Stayed at Palazzo Porto Platanas hotel.
Quality hotel in convenient location, fantastic food and pleasant staff. We had a great room overlooking pool, but beware some of the room are basement level overlooking gardens with semi-enclosed terraces.
Disappointed in resort which was not as upmarket as we thought. No beach promenade so the only place to go on an evening was the busy road through the resort. The beach outside the hotel was small and more like dusty gravel than sand. Also the marina was small and tatty.
Daytime entertainment was very low key and nighttimes was non existent. Cretan evening was good but not worth extra cost. The biggest problem was sunloungers, only 65 around pool and grounds and were reserved from 7am, need I say more!!!!

Well layed out, clean hotel, friendly and obliging staff, good facilities, (pools, bars etc).
We upgraded to a room with its own private pool which we thought would be seperate from the rest of the hotel and therefore secluded.
However, although the room was still great, the pool was in a row of 4 or 5 all very adacent to each other including the sunbathing area.
No problem but you had to be friendly with your neighbours and, to be honest we'd hoped we wouldn't have to bother with our swimwear while in our own pool, which in fact was difficult unless you knew that next door were elsewhere.
Otherwise it was a great hotel and we had a brilliant holiday.

This is beautiful hotel, the best we have ever stayed at. We booked a sea-view which was well worth paying a little extra money for as you also over look the fantastic pool area.
THe hotel itself was lovely, marble everwhere, very clean and run by friendly, efficient staff.
THe pool area was one of the highlights of our holiday as there were plenty of sunbeds (even in August). WE were very pleased as there were four pools, one specifically for children which meant we could sit near the largest pool without being bothered by children. THere were two outdoor jacuzzi's which acted as fountains running into the pool which were lovely to relaxe in. We had read on other review sights about the noisy road in front of the hotel, although it is a fairly noisy road it did not disturb our sunbathing and after a day we didnt even notice it. The hotel has its own section of beach, with free sunbeds and beach bar.
My boyfriend enjoyed the activities that were organised (football, tennis, beach volleyball etc) by the hotel staff and althouogh everyone was invited they only asked you once and didnt keep nagging you to join in.
We booked half board and enjoyed breakfast every morning (usual holiday buffet fayre) and ate in the restaurant 7 nights. Food always delicious, lots of choice, house wine very nice and cheaper than expected.
Hotel entertainment is not high on our list of priorities but we did enjoy watching the Cretian night and had some excellent photos took. Other entertainment was centred around watching the olympics.
