We have just returned from a week's holiday at the Aquila Elounda Village Hotel, which is situated in Elounda and not Agios.
We booked bed and breakfast only as we wanted to sample local tavernas. The B&B offered was of a high standard.
The staff at the hotel are extremely friendly and helpful and always smiling.
We originally booked a garden view room but on arrival was upgraded to a sea view room which was absolutely stunning overlooking Mirabello Bay. On arrival to the room you are given complimentary bottle of water, local wine and fruit. The room itself has a mini bar which obviously is charged to you if you use. You are also supplied with a dressing gown and slippers. The only downside to the facilities offered in the room is that you are told they have satellite tv, which you would presume would offer some english channels. Unfortunately this is not the case the only channel that is in english is the BBC World News.
The cleanliness of the hotel was excellent, our room was cleaned every day, with fresh towels supplied every day and our beds turned down at night.
All the areas of the hotel are first rate and very picturesque. There is also a gym there which again we didn't use so cannot comment on.
The hotel has a private beach which we used every day and was given free beach towels which you could change every day. The beach itself is small, but we were quite happy with it as was really secluded. There is also a beach bar located near the beach with the use of a WC and changing rooms.
We booked this hotel as we wanted a holiday which was totally relaxing and so were looking for an adults only hotel for peace and quiet. There were a handful of small children staying at the hotel which we were a little surprised at as this hotel definitely does not cater for children.
We never sampled the entertainment at the hotel as we went into Elounda Village every night for our meal so cannot comment on the standard of entertainment. We were given a schedule for the week of what was happening each night, and it looked quite entertaining.
We would most definitely return to this hotel as in our opinion it was first rate and offered us the tranquility we were looking for whilst being looked after by the staff. It did not seem overcrowded at all, not sure if that is down to the time of year we visited.
The hotel itself is situated at the far end of Elounda and is not within walking distance to the main Village, so you would have to hire a car or use the Hotel bus or taxi to get into Elounda.
