It was a quiet resort, it all depends on what you want. There are a few bars nearby but these were mainly empty due to the the hotel being all inclusive.
It was no problem getting a cab to the next town though. If you want a lively holiday this resort aint for you, but if you want a good family holiday you wont go far wrong comeing to the Louis Creta Princess.

the beach was ok but i heard there was a few crabs but the pools were enough for me. whenever there was sun out it was on us all the time so bring out lots of suncream. the beach was quite small. but also there was snack bar just next to the pool so those two could eat when they wanted! it was great and i'd stay there again!

Being AI we mainly stayed close to the Hotel. From what we saw of Maleme we weren't really impressed but did venture into Chania which we thought was very nice!!
It's a quiet resort which is what we like; the beach area is very clean as is all the village.
Plenty of eating places, our favourite was the Maleme Tavern just a few minutes walk from the apartments.
Next door is the Mythos which is good for cocktails.
We usually hire a car for part of the holiday from Maleme Motors on the main road next the the supermarket. When we first went there in 2000 there was only 1 supermarket and you couldn't buy bread on a Sunday, but now there's severeral supermarkets and a bakery and the bread is just delicious as is the huge donut and watermelons ripened in the sun.
I would certainly visit this resort again, it's so handy for traveling to Chania, Rethymnon, the lake, Souda Bay, Samaria Gorge, Previli Monastry.
The worst food we had was at East of Eden, about 20 minutes walk along the coast towards platanias.
