We stayed at the Kassandra Palace for 2 weeks in August 2005..The hotel was very clean, and so was the restaurant and surrounding areas.
The hotel staff were warm, friendly and helpful..The rooms were cleaned daily, fresh towels and your nightclothes put on your bed in swan shapes with a sweet on!! The food in the restaurant was plentiful, kept hot/cold,and replaced often, more choices than you can imagine.
A choice of smoking/non smoking seating..with the choice of sitting outside for meals too..Service was excellent in restaurant, and cutlery was always polished and clean crockery..2 pools, with sunbeds around, one for kiddies one for adults, next to a cafe/bar area that did some lovely snax too..the beach is hard SHINGLE,but with sunbeds for hire and another seated bar area overlooking the sea..beautiful..
The entertainment was available by day and night, activities for children with club and lovely reps. But the best was a bar area, with a guy singing and playing ..really relaxing..patio area outside ideal for warm summer evenings, downstairs was a room with family shows on,different trips available,There is also a taverna with a greek evening..
Buses just up road to kalithea and pefkahori..a great holiday..was suprised by old reviews..all the people we talked to all said it was great..off to crete this year, but would definately go back..a real family/couples hotel..brilliant..

I have just returned from this hotel. We stayed half board at this so called 4* accomodation.
The hotel is in need of refurbishment. The rooms are clean but tired, the carpets are dirty. The corridors are carpeted with mustard coloured stained carpets.
The food is basic to say the least. The meat is hacked into chunks and thrown into a serving tray. At times I felt like a animal at the zoo being thrown its lunch. Some of the waiters were ignorant and rude.
The cutlery and crockery was dirty. (lipstick on glasses etc)
The hotel is a 20 min walk from Kriopigi up a very steep hill with very unattractive surroundings.
The entertainment area is in a basement room that is painted black and smells damp. The entertainment was acceptable given what they had to work with.
I would never visit this hotel again and wouldn't recommend it to anyone either. 2* in my opinion.
Good points: The linen was clean and changed daily.
The Greek Night at the taverna was worth a visit and gave the place a bit of atmosphere.

Three words - don't go there! Within minutes of arrival, I had slipped on the dirty, cracked poolside tiles and slit my knee open, resulting in a trip to the local hospital, a tetanus injection and three stitches. Another member of my party fainted, yet no staff rushed to help. That job was left to a German party, who were absolutely magnificent in getting ice for my knee and looking after me. Another man contracted an ear infection from the filthy water. Needless to say, we avoided the pool after that.
Food and service in the restaurant was appalling. Crockery was dirty and piled up on tables due to a lack of waiters. Despite paying for half board, we gave up after the first week and ate out at a local pizzeria. Food was cold and we all contracted food poisoning within a few days, leaving us fighting over the toilet in the poky bathroom. Incidentally, the light in the bathroom leaked, but far from moving us to another room in case of electrocution, we were informed that this was simply an example of the "relaxed" Greek culture. Well, there's relaxed and then there's unsafe.
The hotel was hard to access on foot, so if you don't want to spend all day in the hotel or paying for taxis out, you need to hire a car. The hotel bus only ran when enough people wanted to go out into Kriopigi.
This was without a doubt the worst hotel that I have ever stayed in! The only positive thing I can say is that the First Choice kids and teenager clubs were great. But the best part of the holiday? The flight home!
