Where shall I start.
Got on the coach and was told that we would be first to get dropped off. about 40 minutes in to transfer we was told it was our stop. Only to find out that we would be continuing the rest of the journey by taxi. I was fuming as my 1 year old was getting grizzly.
Arrived at the hotel and checked in and we had a lovely bell boy who had taken use to our bungalow.
when we entered the room it was tiny and the room was dingy and we was very dissapointed, although the view from our room was breathe taking of the beach.
The food is really bad. the first evening we went for dinner it was fowl, instant mash, old manky salad, and meatballs that to me is not a buffet.
We ended up eating out that night. Breakfast was worse hot dog sauages with garden peas.
The cooked food for breakfast/ dinner was always luke warm never hot. they only ever seemed to cater for the majority of there guests of who are german
If it wasnt for the beach I would have just cried. The rep was never there to express my concerns to. Insted I had to ring the holiday line in the uk again costing me money
The on-site supermarket is good value. the hotel staff were excellent couldnt fault them. We never watched the entertianment, but heared really good feedback
The hotel and theresort doesnt have a cash machines the drinks are really expensive.Go to the bar across from the hotel called Karibu and its happy hour all nite every night.
I have never been to greece before, but this exprience has put me off it big time

had a great time at the gerakina beach hotel the rooms are like little bungalows and very spacious there is not much to do outside the complex so would suit people wanting a quiet holiday the hotel could do with providing more daytime entertainment for the kids. the rooms were very clean made service 6 times a week towels changed daily bed linen changed everyother day the food was buffet type service with plenty of variety the staff very friendly and helpful

the complex was made up of the main hotel plus bungelows we stayed in the bungelows, the layout was very good fair size room with two single beds (would have liked double)bathroom with bath/shower and a balcony plus aircon and fridge we did not use the hotel much apart from changing money as the complex had everything else the one thing i would say is they could do with a hole in the wall so you can get money out as the nearest is 15km away (40 euros by taxi)you have to pay 7 euros for a sunbed

I used to be the Thomson Children's Holiday rep in 2000 and 2001. I love Gerakina and I miss it soo much. I made some really good friends in this hotel, all the staff are really friendly.
If you do not wish to eat in the restauarnt every night you can eat excellent Italaian food in the entertainment room in July and August when the entertainment is outside. You pay a little extra. Just ask at reception for your vouchure. I found the best night to eat there is when it is Greek night its a great atmosphere if you enjoy Greek music and dancing. There are also some excellent tavernas outside the hotel (sells pizza and pasta etc) and a about a 2 minutes walk as you go out of the hotel to your left, past the small shopping centre is a more traditional greek taverna. Great for Greek meze (lots of different greek dishes in the middle of the table). If you continue along the same way past the bus stop is another great restaurant great pizzas made in a big clay oven and continue further is a bakery.
On complex you have the Thomson Children's Club and the hotels mini club. There is a mini golf course. Gym indoor and outdoor pool. Water sports, banana rides etc.
If you go to Halkidiki I sugguest you hire a car there are some amazing beaches on Sithonia (middle finger) and all the clubs and bars are on Kassandra in Kalithea and further down finger.
If you are thinking of an excursion then I would sugguest The Fun Cruise its great fun for all the family.
