Agia Efimia is a lovely Fishing Village , which attracts many Yatchs & Day Trippers . Great Taverners & a few Bars . But nothing else ... so Hire a Car/Jeep and Tour the Island it Brill .

Agia Efimia is beautiful but not the place to go if you want all day breakfasts and wall to wall football screens. Ideal for a quiet get away from it all holiday. We fell in love with the place 4 years ago and keep going back.

This was my second visit to Agia Efimia. I like it because everyone is so friendly and I feel completely safe wandering around on my own. It's very clean and although there aren't too many, the restaurants all offer good quality food. There's a dive school, car and boat hire all in the village. The harbour area is lovely and many boats and yachts berth there overnight. The beaches are pebbly but the water is lovely and clear for snorkelling.

The resort of Agia Efimia was very picturesque and clean but not ideal for families as there is no beach. Also the cobbled beach area in the town is very noisy with through traffic. The resort entertainment is low key so suits couples looking for a quiet holiday.

Agia Efimia is a charming village around a harbour.
There aren't too many tavernas but the food is good in most of them. We particularly liked Perasma and Posideon (we had the special for 2 - lobster spaggetti which at 30E was a bargain). We found "To Steki" the most expensive. Finikas was great the first time we went but then not so nice the second time. Some of them also have live music - watch out for that as it can be fun.
The beaches and coves are all pebbly but personally I like this better than sand, hence my rating. You can buy mat rolls to put your towel on for around 4E.
We hired a boat from the yellow boat company and found our own little private beach. It cost 75E, plus 15E for fuel for the whole day which we thought was well worth it.
The Effinia Express is a boat that runs trips directly from Agia Efimia and is much cheaper that booking through your rep. You buy tickets at the taverna next the bakery in the harbour - look for the blue star ferries sign. (the trip we went on would of cost 54E pp from the rep, we got it for 25E pp)
We found Agia Efimia to be an excellent base to explore the rest of the island with our hire car. Do get out and see as much as you can - it really is worth it.
One word of warning - if considering the Gonotas Hotel at the far end of the resort - there is building work going on above on the hill and it's very noisy. It wouldn't be pleasant to sit around the pool.
