It was great to be in Lassi again after two years away and this year we stayed at the Irilena Hotel for the first time. We’d popped in to have a cold beer on the Irilena’s lovely terraced bar area at the front of Hotel on a previous visit and thought it looked lovely.
The hotel is family owned and run by Athena and her daughter Irilena who greet all their guests with the warmest welcome.
The hotel is located on the main road which is totally flat and ideal for anyone with walking difficulties and it’s only a short walk to all Lassis restaurants, bars, supermarkets and beaches. They don’t have a pool, but there is a fairly large, well-kept grass area at the rear of the hotel with sunloungers.
We were lucky enough to have room 216 which stands alone on the roof, has it’s own patio table and chairs and sun loungers and gives complete privacy . The room itself is inland facing and we didn’t hear any road noise at all. The view from the rooftop across Lassi bay and surrounding area is beautiful.
The room was cleaned to a very high standard every day and towels and sheets were changed regularly. The bathroom was honestly the best we have ever come across when staying in a two star accommodation in Greece. The shower cubicle was properly enclosed and the showerhead stayed firmly on the wall and didn’t fall on our heads! We didn’t have to bathe one handed whilst holding the shower head in the other hand and the toilet flushed first time, every time.
Both the indoor bar area and outside terrace are so relaxing you just have to stay for a second drink, or three! We enjoyed a night cap or two at the hotel every evening and it’s testimony to the hotel that people from surrounding hotels and apartments did the same. Talking to other guests it was apparent that once you’ve stayed at Irilena, you’ll be back.
Breakfast was continental style, boiled eggs, bread, cheese and garlic sausage, cornflakes, yoghurt with optional fruit accompaniment and Madeira cake, all topped off with orange juice, tea or coffee. Whilst some guests may think it repetitive, there is ample choice and it is entirely up to guests whether they have the same thing every day or choose to vary it. It certainly set me up for the day. If I want an English breakfast every day on holiday I’d have booked a holiday somewhere in England.
The holiday was definitely value for money and we came back relaxed, happy and with our batteries fully recharged. Athena, Irilena, Issis (apologies Issis had to guess at the spelling!) and the entire staff offer a five star service and their warmth, kindness and hospitality made our holiday all the more memorable.
Looking forward to visiting again next year and hope to bring my in-laws.
