The hotel is in a lovely location overlooking the sea about a 2 mile walk into the town which we only did once and then used the courtesy bus at 8.30pm every evening and got a taxi back for 5 euros later that night. The hotel apartments are kept spotless and the beds changed everyday, if you needed clean towels just leave them in the bath or shower. The rooms had air conditioning a hair dryer and a radio. the breakfasts catered for every one, cereals, yoghurt, greek honey, boiled eggs 5 mins and 3 mins, omelettes, sausages, bacon, beans, fresh bread and a toaster as well as 3 different fruit juices, tea and coffee and a large variety of fresh fruits, the only niggly thing was the food was just warm and not hot. The pool area was great with showers and even had a play area for the kids, mini crazy golf, swing, slide and table tennis, food was also available from the pool bar which opens around 10.45 and not 10 as advised but hey thats GMT for you. You have to put everything on a tab which at first is bit daunting, we kept a track of ours and i must say when we settled up on the morning we left the computerised bill was spot on. All in all a smashing week and i would definatley recommend it to people with small kids and couples.

We stayed for one week in a double room on a half board basis.
The hotel location is a mixed blessing in that you are away from the noise and crowds of Skala but it is a good 40 minutes to walk into town. However taxi fare is 5

Lovely Hotel in a beautiful setting just outside Scala town. The rooms all have air conditioning, TV (which shows really goos films, kids TV, News and MTV). Hairdryers and kettle. All rooms are a lovely size and all have beautiful views. The breakfast is wonderful, everything you can ever thing of and as much as you want. THe evening meals are also really good but feature pork and pasta a lot. We only ate out twice the whole time we were there. There is a snack bar at the pool which serve basic food, like sandwiches and pasta.
The only down side was you had to get a taxi into twon which was 4 euros each way. You can walk but there are no pavements and it gets very hot. The taxi driver were few and far between and when you did get one don't expect them to be polite. WE got shouted at daily for closing the doors to hard which got on our nerves towards the end of the holiday. The town itself is very quiet just one street. I would recommend "Flamingos" for lunch their meatballs and traditional lamb was the best we had tasted. Captins bar for cocktails, try their B52's and venos. We also ate at the Chines and the restuarant on the sea front on the corner before you turn into scala with lamps on the tables, forgot the name. Both of these were lovely.
Our favorite place was Sami, if you look close enough at the small strip of shops behind the sea front there is a lovely jewerelly shop and a gift shop toward the opposite end.

We arrived at porto scala village in the early afternoon, when we got on the coach at kefalonia airport it was full but 1 hour later after dropping everyone off we were the only ones to arrive at the hotel.
The receptionist greeted us with a big smile and that smile stayed on for the 2 weeks. She gave us a safe key for our room and told us it was free for the 2 weeks we were there We were shown to our room by one of the staff and our luggage follewed 5 mins later .
The room was clean with tv ;fridge;a kettle, and of course a safe.also the best airconditioning unit we have ever seen you controlled it with hand control unit and loads of fun playing with it The little boy coming out in me I think. When we went on to the balcony what a view we could see the island of Zanti in the distance. One evening we saw half a dozen dolphins in the bay below our room they put on a show dancing around and jumping into the air we will never forget that.
The hotel food was as you would find in most hotels breakfast buffet style being a choice of cereals eggs and english beakfast. The evening meal again was buffet style was different every night but you always had pasta every evening again with a choice of sauces; fish was also served and a choice of meats. there was a choice of cakes ,fruit.sometimes ice cream but not every night I would say that the food was average for us we found it to be to our taste
The hotel staff were very friendly aand greeted you with a smile The restaurant staff could not do enough for you and if you could say a few words in greek you got an even bigger smile. The main drawback was its location 2 miles along a quiet coast road from scala but it was the price to pay for its location a good nights sleep.
There was no entertainment when we where there but then we were too early in the season. When you bought drinks from the bar or restaurant it was charged to your room account.
Now for the part which upset me a little. half way through the holiday I had to settle up the account and they brought in a new system called Porto Scala Euros (Micky Mouse money we called it).You had to change your Euros at the reception and they gave you this plastic euros to spend at the bar and restaurant also 10% was given as Porto Scala Tip money So if you tipped think of this what you will but we did not like it as I would have preferred to tip staff according to service.(more then 10% if had exceptional service

After arriving and shown to a supposed sea view room which we had paid extra for, we were very dissapointed to say the least.
Rooms here are as basic as you can get. We then had to wait 2 days to be moved, by which time we were grateful to unpack.
The food was appalling, the pool area depressing, and no monies were excepted, you have to buy money from reception, in the form of cards a bit like monopoly.
Staff here were very downtrodden, spirits low, this was because the managment did not trust them. We then found ants everywhere, even in the bed!
The rep was unhelpful and admitted that this hotel had a problem but we could not be moved anywhere else. We hired a car and ate out every day and night.
