Recently stayed at the Lakitira Beach Resort for 2 weeks in August 2009. Having stayed at a Mark Warner resort 3 years ago we expected high standards of activity, food and evening entertainment. To be honest we were very disappointed with the food, but mortified by the lack of any evening entertainment. When you consider MW have a captive audience on evenings (there are no local bars unless you do a 45 min hike), it's inexcusable to lay on nothing at all. The main bar was renamed the 'Airport Departure Lounge' by most guests due to it's awful atmosphere - most families resorted to playing cards in isolated groups to while the hours away. If you stay here. expect to be in bed by 10pm most nights! Sailing was great to be fair but the beach staff were very disorganised resulting in long waiting times for boats and a non-existent queueing system made tempers rise. The biking equipment should be condemned as it is unsafe (the bike rep does a great job however despite this equipment).

Go somewhere else if you want value for money. Lakitira was a mega dissapointment and not a patch on e.g. Aeolian Village.

Mark Warner active child care excellent for older children. Some of the English Mark Warner staff gave the impression that the job would be great if it wasn't for looking after guests. Local staff and international staff were excellent and very helpful.
Food adequate but not brilliant by any means.
All soft and hot drinks were extremely expensive as were icecreams (you can buy 3 'Magnums' in london for the price of one at Lakitira!)Nearest shop costs 18 euro return in taxi.
Aircraft noise all day and night and it was very loud as the hotel is directly under flight path for take off and landing.
MOur money would have been far better spent on a five star elsewhere, with another operator. Other than the excellent (for older kids) child care we cannot imagine why anyone would return to Lakitira. Neilson resorts win hands down for quality and courteous staff.
