We booked this hotel at the last minute and we were a little bit unsure about booking so late in the day (4 weeks to departure).

We arrived at the hotel and as we pulled into the drive way half the anxiety disappeared.... yes it did look like the pictures on the web site.

As we went into reception we found the reception staff to be very friendly and polite.

On arrival in the room we thought it was a little small for four persons but it was not possible to change to a larger room or upgrade.

The hotel was clean and friendly and if you get the chance you must pop down to the leather shop/knick knacks and see Poppy and the girls and Georgio (Poppy's husband). They are a wonderful family and really make the holiday with their suggestions and friendliness.

I would recommend this hotel without a doubt and especially if you want a lot of sun at the last minute head to Rhodes in Aug/September the kids loved the warm water and cleanliness of the hotel.

Fantastic..... Oh and don't forget to order room service in your room on the balcony at sunset it makes a change from the restaurant any day. The other place to try is the taverna.... we only bothered on the last two days but once we found it we booked there every lunch time... evenings are a little more difficult. The food is great so what do you expect.

Well have a lovely time and remember there are shops along the beach road where you can buy sarongs and costumes etc so don't take too much.

We travelled on the 14th july our party was friends and
family 8 adults and 5yr old.On arrival we were given maps and told where our rooms are,our rooms were in a bungalow style and we were all next to each other, that is the only good thing that happened on this holiday even if it was for one night.

Our rooms were shabby old and the air conditioning was just a vent in the wall and was basiclly non exsistant,i was woken up in the morning by a big truck as we were at the back of the complex on a busy road,if that was not bad enough i was woken by very large ants in my bed after a heated disscusion i was moved to the newer part of the complex.

the pools could not cope with the capacity of people and a couple of us went down with ear infections you could not get a sun bed we did not get one untill the 12th day of hol.you have to cross a road to get to the beach no sun beds either.

and the so called resturant where to begin not air conditioned over 1500 people to line up and get unedible cold food from 12 trays on one food station,i have seen shorter queue's in a harrods sale than trying to get in to the dinner hall.and then you were herded in and out like cattle we ate out.

the staff were rude and did not care
there were also coach loads of people that were turned away due to over booking. This hotel was advertised as 5star i would say 3tops.

items also went missing on holiday i had a watch and shoe's other had walletts and
camera equipment go.

If you love benidorm or the costa bravo-costa del sol then this holiday would be ok,otherwise avoid it like the plague.

When we arrived at the hotel our room was covered in ants and the bed had long black hairs all over it & in between the sheets. The fridge had not been filled with drinks. The reception staff were utterly useless and quite rude. We had not been told that we would be ejected from the hotel one day before our departure date so we spent a frantic morning booking somewhere else which was not only time consuming and worrying - but an added cost which we had not expected or (more importantly) been warned about by sunstar.

the sunstar rep was as useful as a chocolate teapot. She told us that the fact we'd have to book an extra day for our holiday was in the small print in the terms and conditions and it was our fault for not looking for it. be warned that you're supposed to know that they will book you for the night before you arrive (apparently when you make the booking you must ask for them not to do this, sadly i was not aware and it's cost me dearly).

One of my towels got stolen by the pool, i met a lady whose brand new shoes had been stolen and another chap whose wallet had been emptied.

The food was reminicent of school dinners, practically the same every night. The desserts were in fact exactly the same every night. The dining room was unbearably hot, with the buffet squeezed into a tiny section of the room - making it like a rugby scrum to get anywhere near the food. Our drinks, whilst ordered when we sat down, never appeared before we had finished our main course. the waitresses and waiters made it very evident that you were annoying them, and were at times rude.

The pool does not have the capacity to accommodate even a quarter of the guests - they have added on blocks to the rear of the hotel but not taken into account that they will have to enlarge the pool or buy some more sunbeds. it's hilarious to watch people getting out of bed at 5am to secure their sunbeds. if you arrive at the pool after 7.30am you will be too late.

I am not adverse to music. However, from 10am you're treated to thumping poolside music while the animation team scream at the tops of their voices 'water gyyyyyym' etc. the children can't swim in the pool all morning as there are so many (adult) activities going on the in the pool. there are about 4 sun brollies by the children's pool and about 10 sunbeds. the paving around both pools are as slippery as an ice rink and i witnessed lots of little children (and a few adults) take nasty tumbles around the pool.

the transport to the hotel is a joke. we hired a car during our stay and the journey from the airport to the hotel should take 45 mins maximum. if you accept the sunstar airport transfer you're in for a (hot and sticky) 2 hour ride. hiring a car at the airport is simple enough and the roads a very easy to follow.

We spent our last night in the Cosmopolitan hotel in Rhodes. This is a lovely hotel with polite staff and delicious food with polite, cheerful staff. The room was immaculate. It served only to remind us how utterly awful our stay at the Maris had been. We will never go back and will never recommend the hotel to anyone. Ever.

Our main problem revolved around the lack of air-conditioning in our room. It was not functioning, and reception kept promising 'repairs' each day. It was finally 'operational' on our 5th day, but died again on the 6th! Then the manager had the audacity to accuse us of breaking it!! We had zero support from the Thomos Cook rep - he was totally useless.
Never went into the pool (impossible to get loungers), but beach was nice (and usually not overly busy). Crazy just having 2 canoes for 2 large hotel complexes. Disappointed with the amount of water activities offered with 'all-inclusive' (virtually zero!). Windsurfing was too expensive (excessive charge for a certification lesson even though we are proficient, frequent windsurfers). There were no pedallos even though it was in the brouchure.
Some staff were friendly, others gave the impression it was rather bothersome to serve us.
The animation team were superb - best we have ever come across. However, at these high prices one would've expected a variety of profesional evening entertainment rather than the audience participation type.
Overall this hotel should be listed as a 3 star.

This hotel is 5 star for cleanliness and facilities but I agree with the report below that the reception staff are useless and do not have a clue about customer service. Food is very good and lots of it. The location of the hotel is terrific for the beach and travelling to Lindos (air conditioned bus outside for 1.60 euros). Entertainment is very good as well. There is a lot for children including their own pool and waterslide, kiddies club and restaurant. The only but and it is a big one is SAFETY. All pools are surrounded buy smooth ceramic and marble tiles so when wet are lethal. In the 2 weeks we were there we witnessed very many falls including 1 cracked head, 1 broken leg, 1 broken arm and broken glass in to hands. Many very low walls (less than 12" which then drop many feet to concrete or the 3.35 meter deep end of the pool. We needed to be constantly alert with our 2 year old. Staff were however exceptional at the beach bar and the childrens section.

We stayed at this hotel for one week. Everything about the holiday was excellent. The rooms weren't up to 5* standard but were very clean. The food was very good with a large selection of choices. The beach and its facilities were brillant especially the staff at the beach bar. All the staff in the hotel were very friendly and helpful. I would advise that you hire a car and see some of the Island it is beautiful. We also spent a day at the waterpart near faliraki which is well worth a visit. The entertainment is aimed more towards young families if you want a more exciting nightlife go for an evening into Lindos which is lovely. We are going to go back to this hotel next year for two weeks.

I stayed at this hotel with my daughter who had just finished her GCSE's. I had read all the reviews and went to an open mind. The room were cleaned everyday and were perfect. The food especially in the Pizzeria was very good and the waiters attentive with drinks. There was daytime and evening entertainment and it wasn't just for the children, well it is between 9-9.30. The animation team were really lovely all coming from different countries and speaking main different languages. There was water polo, fun darts, water aerobics. The beach has its own bar with a lot more sunbeds and unmbrellas. You need the umbrellas very hot most days. The local bus can be caught from just outside the hotel and only 1.60 each way to Lindos. Went to the water park but be careful it costs 34 euros to transport only, through sunstar and then a further 19 euros per adult when you get there. Well worth going if you enjoy water slides etc. I would recommend this hotel the only down side was that there weren't enought sun beds around the pools and there is not much in the resort only two bars but everything is inclusive anyway. Have a great time if you are going.

If you are diabetic, or prefer sugar-free (diet) drinks - forget it! This hotel does not offer it and after complaining for 3 days, they would only stock it for us in 1 bar. We paid

We booked to stay at the Rodos Village Hotel but when we arrived the hotel given to us was the Rodos Maris Hotel(across the road from the Rodos Village Hotel. The rooms were cleaned everyday and the hotel and surroundings was neat and tidy. the food was nice and edible. The only staff that were rude and useless were the reception...they were just as much use as a chocolate fire guard. The rest of the staff were excellent. The kids were entertained all day and we highly recommend the hotel for the kids.

The only snag was that if you take a night flight they will charge you 50 euros for the extention on your room on the last day..the travel agent will not make you aware of this...so watch out.

We meet some lovely people on holiday,,especially Donna and family from Desborough.

All in all we enjoyed our stay.

This is a warning to anyone thinking of going to the Rodos Maris Hotel! We had an awful experience there!

For my birthday my boyfriend booked the Maris as a surprise, however this was a complete disaster. The hotel was so bad we left within hours and we are now taking the holiday company to court to receive compensation.

I do not understand the people who gave good reports! After going on a P&O cruise the year before this was the pits!

We arrived at 3 in the morning, and all 3 planes that had landed at roughly the same time were all going to the Maris which was chaos. We got there at 5 and my boyfriend had to unload our bags off the bus as well as other elderly passengers bags while the bus driver stood there watching and had a fag.

We then had to stand outside till 6.30 waiting for our room keys which were then thrown at us along with a photocopied map telling us where our room was.

When we eventually got there, there was no electricity which we complained about and nobody came to fix it. After being up all night we just wanted to go to bed, however the room smelt musty and with no lights and being unable to open the balcony doors and shutter we could not check what state the beds were in they did feel damp so we didn
