Having booked 2 all inclusive bungalows we were led miles down the road to be pointed to a staircase between a hire car outlet and the local "open all hours" shop to be told "your rooms are up there". The rooms were 1 star self catering dumps with wonderful views of the main road and shops from your balcony, or the local waste ground from your front door.
Our complaints to the management recieved the stock reply of "you can upgrade". Our only option was to do this at a cost of 400 euro for the 2 weeks.
Speaking to other Brits at the hotel it transpired that they had all been treated the same !
At the upgrade hotel (the proper Montemar), the rooms were a huge improvement, although the cleanliness of the rooms left a lot to be desired. They don't want you putting paper down the toilet but the bin wasn't emptied everyday....nice for the flies.
We didn't see the swimming pool area get swept down in 2 weeks.....it was always thick in dirty sand walked up from the beach, dog ends and discarded plastic tumblers.
The food was unvaried, largely badly cooked and the leftovers were reheated for lunch the next day !
Most of the food was concealed by dodgy lighting and unlabelled, you had to taste it before deciding what it might be. We have never before spent so much money eating out on an All Inclusive holiday like we did here.
Most of the Staff were pleasant and helpful, especially once they realised that you were English and you would treat them with some politeness.
The Animation staff, apart from 1, ignored you completely. Most of the time you didn't know that anything was happening until it had started, unless you were the right nationality.
The evening entertainment seemed to be ok for the little kids, but for the adults was poor and repetitive. ie. Their Riverdance production was on every 4 nights.
This is the 1st hotel that we have ever complained about and we would not return even if we were paid too !!!!!!!

Booked The Montemar and 13 of us arranged to stay there for our Wedding. We arrived and they tried to put us in self catering apartments that didn't even belong to the Montemar, they were awful we had a 7 year old with us, the hobs wouldn't turn off and doors were hanging off hinges it was a death trap.
Our room was so tiny you couldn't swing a cat. bearing in mind we booked 11 months previous they still treated us like last minute customers. We complained bitterly and they finally moved us... to another hotel for 2 days.
We spoke to the rep he assured us we would be moved into the best rooms on the Friday ha ha ha what a joke if thats their best rooms god help us.
The cleaner by the way was lovely and very thorough couldn't fault that part.
The food was reheated all day and wasn't very pleasent.
The pools were nice though, probably the only good thing to talk about(apart from the cleaner).
Just don't go there thats all I can say.

We booked the hotel through the Airtours brochure believing that the hotel was small (189 rooms)for couples and older children.
In fact the hotel has 398 roooms and turned out to be an all inclusive hotel very much catering for families with small children. We had booked half board basis but felt bullied into going all inclusive which we refused.
There are 5 pools but if your are not all inclusive you can only use 1 pool with free sunbeds, you will be charged for the sunbeds at all the other pools.

hi stayed here for our silver wedding, booked on the basis that it was a small hotel(what a joke!) it has been turned into a huge all inc "village" we asked for a room with a view and was given a basement room overlooking a boiler. straight round to management and told them i wasnt staying there! moved to a nice room not to far from the pool by the bungelows. the food was discusting reheated and flies over it we compliained to the rep(who was never there when she said she would be)and asked to be moved she said everywhere was booked up (yeh likley story) we were told by a local that a german company has bought all the area ie hotels and apartments and turned them into a village. we did complain to first choice as we were sold the holiday as stated in the brouchure as a small and friendly! we were given

We married in Lindos, staying at the wonderful Montemar. Staff were excellent (Maria & Co)Food was varied & tasty. We really enjoyed. We stayed at the hotel annex (near the second pool) The barman there was genuine & interested in all the clients. We had a stress free 2 weeks. All the staff worked hard, long hours. Resort was pretty & had a lot to do. A short bus ride to Lindos. A longer bus ride ( regular service bus) to Rodos, Faleraki, Pefki & Lardos.Cheap beer & food.
We will return.

My husband and i married in rhodes in May 2004. We stayed at the hotel and they organised a 7 course meal for us and our party. It was amasing. They helped us to organise transport on the wedding day and organised a hairdresser.
The hotel is in a lovely area, quite but still has a lot of life.
The hotel staff where very helpful and freindly.
