I have stayed at this hotel many times when I am not able to stay with my friends. Over the years it has become more and more shabby.
The foyer has been up-dated with new furniture and some years ago the lifts were renewed. That is about it, the rooms are very shabby and desperate for some tlc. The cooking facilities are very poor, luckily we didn't want to eat in. Always plenty of hot water but the shower head won't stay on the wall. The toilet leaked but no-one came to fix it despite our requests. The night porter was invisible most nights and we had to go behind the counter for our key. The English receptionist was helpful and friendly.
Overall this hotel is in a good position for all Rhodes Town has to offer but is very noisy at night.

I first stayed at The Alexia nearly 15 years ago, it hasn't changed a lot but didn't need to. They have added self catering studios (which is what we had) and these have obviously been updated at some point to incorporate the kitchenette. There's been no other changes apart from the addition of air con and double glazing.
If you're looking for nightlife and beach life the hotel is in a perfect location, on Bar Street, one street back from the beach. If you're looking for a quiet holiday, it probably won't suit. The shops and restaurants of the New Town are a few minutes away, Mandraki Harbour and the Old Town around 10-15 mins walk.
The Alexia is clean, comforatble and friendly but if you want luxury look elsewhere (and be pepared to pay for it!).
