This is a place to come if you want a lazy laid back holiday in a resort that somewhat goes back in time to the more traditional less touristy Greece. The Sofia Hotel was in a nice position 2 minutes to the sand and shingle beach and about the same to the nearest taverna. A mini market was all of 3 minutes casual stroll.

The room was average and could have done with brightening up but for our point of view they were satisfactory especially as it was not the type of holiday you would spend hours in your room. You could hire a fridge, safe deposit box and air conditioning but the latter worked out as an expensive extra. It would have been nice if it was on meter so one could pay for what you use.

A small but pleasant swimming pool with free beds one of the nicest and most sociable poolside bars we have visited and a weekly barbecue which was great fun and a good way to join up with up guests for an evening. Breakfast was different every day but with no choice.

Way better than most 2 star accommodation breakfasts in Greece. Best for couples and neither the hotel of resort is ideal for families in our humble opinion. We would certainly return here if we have another holiday in Kambos.

The Sofia Hotel was generally a good place to stay. It was in an excellent position 2 minutes from the beach with no traffic noise.

The swimming pool whilst not large was nice and the surrounding area had free sunbeds but some cushions to go on them would not have gone a miss.(We would recommend if the hotel reads this review they could easily remedy this minor but important point.)

The pool bar run by Vassili was wonderful the real focal point and a large proportion of guests met here for a drink later in the evening making it a very social spot.

Thankfully during our stay it was peaceful as there were no children here,(We have done that!!) but in fairness I would not recommend this hotel to families it is definitely a couples place.

The continental breakfast was above average and it was served in a nice position. Our main criticism were the small balcony which had no outlook and the numerous hotel cats were allowed to roam everywhere a were a nuisance especially when they came uninvited into your room. Also the water never cleared in the bathroom and no mop was left in the room to mop the water up.

Overall we can recommend the Sofia Hotel for couples over 30 on a budget holiday who are not worried about luxuries

The best 2 points about this 2* hotel was its position- 3 minutes walk to the beach- and the great poolside bar which seems to be the focal point. Most of our other observations are negative.

Our room had no outlook, the decor left and lot to be desired and plumbing even by Greek standards was diabolical. To make matters worse when we complained the owner was very rude and made life difficult for us.

There is a small swimming pool here with free sunbeds and this part was adequate. You need to be a cat lover to come to this hotel as there are large numbers of them roaming about and if you leave the door open they come in. Again the owner was not bothered.

We cannot recommend this establishment. The owner was Samos answer to "Basil Fawtly"

This is a little gem, if you like the "small & friendly" holiday.

The hotel is situated about 100 metres from the main road which is bordered by the sand/shingle beach. There is a fine selection of bars and tavernas from right on the doorstep to within ten minutes walk and a number of mini marts as well.

The rooms are clean and welcoming. The facilities being as expected in Greece, although the pink walls take a few hours to get used to but let

The Sofia Hotel is probably classified correctly as a 2*.We considered it to be in a good position just off the main road so no traffic noise and only 2 minutes to the beach and a selection of tavernas, The hotel had several plus and minus factors.

Plus points.
1 Its position.
2 A great and well run pool bar
3.A basic but different breakfast every day.
4.Rooms cleaned regularly.

Minus points
1. Bathroom floor that never drained
2. Insipid and undrinkable orange juice for breakfast.
3. Very expensive air conditioning(payable locally)
4. A rude owner who only concern was his small constantly barking dog
5. Cats roaming every where. The hotel seemed to have adopted an army of them!!
