We went on a two-week stay in the Exotica in June 2001. The hotel itself is very well run & the reception staff in particular are excellent. We did find however that there was barely any space in the rooms. We had a double bed & a set of bunk beds for ourselves & our two daughters. This room is supposed to be able to accommodate four ADULTS.... but we found that two adults plus two small children was a real squash! I also found the prison issue grey decor in the rooms a bit depressing... but that's just me. The rooms & the hotel in general are spotlessly clean, with daily maid service. We found that the stone tiled floors in the rooms are treacherous when wet, so be aware of that if you do have little ones with you. The breakfast was very good, but got a bit boring towards the end of the holiday. There was cold meat & cheese, Greek yogurt, cereals, cake, baked beans, scrambled egg, boiled eggs, bread, juice tea & coffee..... so you won't starve! I agree with the previous reviewer that the entertainment in the hotel is poor. We have been on Super Family holidays before & in comparison the entertainment here was distinctly lacking. You can hire fridges & beach towels, which is a real bonus. It is also worth mentioning that the celing fan is very effective on those long hot summer nights. Don't bother taking a mozzie machine with you as you are only allowed to use a special one with a long flex in the hotel, which can be bought cheaply from the supermarket next door. The location of the hotel is very good. There are lots of great places to eat nearby & plenty of parking spaces out the front if you decide to hire a car (recommended!).
Kalamaki itself is a nice little resort. The beach is fine, & a short flat walk from the hotel. Swimming with the turtles was the highlight of our holiday !!!
Please feel free to email me with any other questions you may have about The Exotica, Kalamaki or Zakynthos... I will do my best to answer them!

I stayed there and had a great time. The surrounding area and poolside were beautiful. it catered well for families in the way of poolside entertainment with bingo, quizzes and the daily buzzword competition.
My only complaints are that my Mams bad was covered in ants and the kids reps were a bit patronizing.
p.s the kareoke wes a bit cheesy
p.p.s no roaches
p.p.p.s I was only 8 when I went in 2000

We stayed in May 2000, and the weather was glorious. It's a walk to the beach but its flat. The turtles were swimming in the sea alongside us and that was worth the price alone.
A quiet resort ideal for families.
There are some fantasic restaurants in Kalamaki and all at a reasonable price.
The staff at Exotica were great, although some of the guests were horrible.
The pool is a disappointment its far too deep for kids, and the steps into it are in the deepest part, however they do have their own paddling pool.
I would recommend the Exotica and I would return
