We visited this hotel previously and had good rooms. Last time we were allocated a room on the ground floor. Let's be clear, several of the rooms on the ground floor are ok - BUT, some are not. There are five or six that are absolutely not fit for purpose. We got one of those. It was room A2, under the main stairs (to the left as you look at the stairs from the pool). To get to the room you have to go along the corridor that leads to the cleaning cupboard and this room. The room is dark at all times due to it being a strange shape and the balcony area is overlooked by everyone on the stairs and the next door studio too. Even with a light on there is not enough light to read in the room.
We asked for a move, and given that we had been customers there a couple of times before and so knew that the other rooms are ok, we thought that we might be treated fairly but Jason could not be bothered. He just laughed when I said the room was like a dungeon.
As a result, we won't go back to this hotel. I have read that our experience is quite common so it is too much of a gamble risking our annual holiday on a dungeon room Russian roulette.

Hotel tip: Avoid booking this hotel unless you do not mind a dungeon room.

we booked to stay at the ionian blue studios for 2 weeks when i booked i requested any room above ground floor as im allergict to cats so we arrived and had our first encounter with the hotel owner he gave me my key room 101 and our friends room 104 i tried to explain that i had requested a high room he said we are full if you dont like the room dont stay go somewhere else or see the rep tomorrow so we went to the rooms well it just got worse from then on we opend the door and what hit us can only be described as a smell of raw sewage it hadnt rained in kalimaki for 4 months so all the damp on the walls was seeping from broken drains just outside when my wife let the water go after having a bath all raw sewage pumped up through the drain in the middle of the bathroom floor i will let you imagine what that smelt like i went to see the hotel owner again but all he would say is this is greece if you not like you go belive it or not room 104 was worse a door and a small window this was the only natural light in room 104 there was an industrial air freashner that went off every 10 minutes to try to mask the smell of damp and sewage if you get one of the other appartments on high floors by all accounts they are quite nice but if you get appartments 101-105 beware we were saved after 4 days of hell we moved

Having read other reviews on this hotel we specifically asked for a room that was not on the ground floor as these reviews were less positive. we were allocated a room on the second floor and it was lovely. lovely views, spotlessly clean and well stocked for a studio in terms of stuff to cook with. there was a microwave, kettle, toaster, fridge and 2 ring burner. we did not cook while we were there but we did notice that there were no loads of pans etc but if, like us you just want snacks, breakfast and chilled drinks it's perfect.
the rooms on the bottom floor looked a bit dark and some 2 of the balconies on the 1st floor were either side of the main entrance steps so probably not much privacy. having said that i did notice that one of the rooms on the bottom floor used the garden at the back instead of their balcony which was a ice idea.
the hotel was always nice and clean. the reception area is all white marble. it is not generally manned but there is a notice saying that the staff are in the pool bar. this is right facing the reception. it is a family run hotel and they literally never stopped all the time we were there.
it's about a 5 min walk from the main strip and probably the same to the beach.
there is no entertainment in the hotel but that meant it was nice and quiet.
you can watch the planes going over but it is not noisy as there is a limit on the amount of planes allowed. the airport is open 7am-10pm so there are no planes at night so the turtles are not disturbed

The apartments are in a good position, situated in between the main strip and the beach. They are kept spotlessly clean and are furnished well. The staff that man the bar area are pleasant and very helpful. All the apartments face the pool area which has plenty of sun loungers. The grounds are well maintained with a small play area for young children.
I would certainly stay there again.

The hotel is situated in a quiet spot just off the main strip. The rooms are cleaned daily. The Pool area, reception & pool bar is kept very clean & tidy. The staff were friendly, however the reception area is not manned throughout the day so if you have any problems or queries you have to ask a member of staff in the bar area.
There is no entertainment on the site. They do have a pool table, large screen TV & a childrens play area.
As the main strip is only a five minute walk away not having any entertainment on the site was not a problem.
You do get a small amount of noise from the airport, however the only day it woke us up was friday as that appears to be the busiest day at the airport.
This was a quiet, friendly hotel close to the beach & the main strip in resort & is somewhere i would definately recommend for families or couples.
