The hotel is up a steep hill, there is no path and is not very good for the ederly or people with prams.
We booked a standard room with a double bed, this was on the 3rd.The bathroom was very disgusting and dirty, the room was the same. The toilet was very dirty you could not sit on it, could not have a shower the shower head was very dirty and disgusting, french doors looked on to a wall out side, great room.

The hotel and pool are realy good and We have no complaints about the upkeep of the hotel in anyway.
The location for us was excellent as we prefer to be by the pool rather than on the beach. We did have a walk to the beach and it looked very good, not soft golden sand but very clean and tidy. It is roughly 15 minutes walk away from the hotel.
We found the price of food and drink to be a little more expensive than in corfu which we visited in July and also more expensive than at least 1 other resort on Zante (we have a friend who was in a different resort at the same time as us). That said We had a meal in "The Appollon restraunt" starters, main course, 1 litre of house, wine and a large water. Excellent food, service and surroundings all for a very reasonable 18Euros
The weather was far better than expected We had wall to wall sun for the whole week We were there.
The 1 complaint about the hotel was that it seemed to be noisy a lot of the noise is fairly unavoidable people walking around and generaly going about their buisness but, the 1 thing that was realy annoying was that the tannoy playing the local radio station was turned on at 8:45 prompt this obviously wakes you up especilly when you have a pool view as we did.
The airport is quite strange the arrivals hall only has 2 carousels but they are quite large and the hall itself is big bright and airy. The departures however is a different matter they are totaly inadequate, I guess We didn't see them at their worst because We were the first flight out in the morning and it was fairly quiet.
We would definitley visit again, both the Mavrikos and tsilivi are realy good.

Having read reports about the Mavrikos on other sites we were quite happy with our choice of holiday. The hotel itself was a clean and fairly modern building situated in a quiet area of Tsilivi. The pool area is compact and a little overcrowded at times, but we managed to get sunbeds on the days we required them. The location of the hotel for us was a let down, it stands about 100 metres off the main road up a fairly steep hill. DO NOT go to this hotel if you like to be near the beach!! most reports state that the hotel is about 800 metres to the beach, it might be as the crow flies, but I would estimate it is a good 15 to 20 minute walk.
The hotel staff were pleasant and polite, the only critisism would be that the cleaners tend to talk a little bit loudly when starting there shift at about 6-45am. The pool bar was run by a couple from lancashire, this is were the evening entertainment takes place you get a couple of nights of bingo, a quiz night, Greek dancing, and an Elvis tribute act.
We stayed in a studio, which was compact but fine for the amount of time we stayed in there, it was cleaned everyday and the bed linen changed weekly. In the room we had a television and a safety deposit box, airconditioning is available but costs 30 euro's a week to use.

We stayed at the Mavrikos for 2 weeks,we had a 2 roomed apartment, this was ok however the cleanliness of the apartment was a let down, under one of the beds we found a cheese slice, childrens stickers and crayons, not sure how long they had been there.... we only had our bedding and towels changed once in 2 weeks.
The pool and snack bar are nice.
It takes about 15 mins to walk to the beach which is well worth going as it is beautiful.
Tsillivi is a lovley place and we will return however not to the Mavrikos.

Well placed for access to the centre of the village, although it is quite steep.
The pool can get crowded, did'nt bother us, we like the beach it is beautiful.
Friendly staff and spacious area around the bar.
