JWe just came back from Goa yesterday and we have already started looking for flights again to book our next holiday. The Don Joao Resort is an amazing 2 star resort with basic facilities. The staff are really friendly and always eager to help. The rooms were cleaned everyday. The restaurant has some amazing pure vegeterian food. I would definately recommend this hotel to anyone. Its a 5-7 minutes walk to the beach and if you want to go to different town the bus stop is just outside the hotel and charges less than 10 rupees to go to Mapusa and from there you can catch various other buses to go to different places.

When we first arrived at Don Joao we thought it looked quite nice from outside. It is a relatively small complex with only 36 rooms.
The holiday representative warned us on the way down from the airport that accommodation in Goa tends to be very basic and boy was she right.
We got a bit of a shock at first but funnily enough within a day or two we grew to quite like out room. With some fresh paint and upgraded furniture it would actually be very nice - at the moment it looks a little bit dingy. The beds were changed every day and clean towels left for us often shaped into wonderful creations such as snakes, boats and birds.
There were also good, big ceiling fans to keep us cool and a fridge to keep our drinks in. Every room has a nice balcony shaded by tall palm trees. The outside of the hotel is very pretty with a nice pool, a poolside bar and a poolside restaurant.
The cuisine is not spectacular but it there is some variety and the prices are very cheap. The highlight for us was the staff who are absolutely delightful and when we left it felt like saying goodbye to friends. Don Joao is only budget accommodation but as such is a nice, friendly place to stay.
