The brochures claim 10-15 mins from the beach but walking its more like 30 minutes, taxi's are cheap though and you could also stop a tuk-tuk if you fancy travelling on three wheels.
The hotel itself is basic as the 2 stars would suggest but the rooms are kept clean and realistically it is India so you should not expect much European luxury. The hotel did serve food but we prefered to eat out at the different places in Calangute town. The staff were friendly and ok to chat with the few times we spent and hour propping up the bar but entertainment was non existent so we were not encouraged to stay for to long in the evenings.
At the end of the day though we paid a great price for our two weeks and were very happy with our time at the Maria Rosa and for the price would definetly consider revisiting in the future.

We stayed on b&b basis and the breakfast is excellent as much as you like with cornflakes or eggs or ham/cheese omelette and plenty of toast tea/coffee or fruit juice were as previous at other hotels we only got toast & jam.
The rooms are big but basic ,but kept clean and come with fridge and tv with about 6 live english football on sat/sunday .
The garden and swimming pool are very nice but not many people use the pool.
The hotel is some sort of timeshare for Indians ,but
there were also many British people.
The negative things about this hotel is that it's next to a church that rings the bells at 5 ,6 and 7am in the morning and will most likely wake you up ,the main road into Calangute runs in front and is noisy during the day and early evening.
The hotel is on the edge of town it's about 10min. walk to town and another 10min to the beach but a taxi to the beach is 50 rupees and taxi's wait outside.
On arrival ask for a room as far away as pos. from the front.
All in all it's not a bad hotel.
