For obvious reasons, we do no accept reviews from the country where the accommodation is situated.

We were on a bed and breakfast basis but were upgraded to A1.We only had one meal in the hotel which was ok. The hotel was very impressive but the first room we were given in my opinion, was very poor, dirty walls and dirty futon bed which would have been my daughter's bed.
We settled for the third room we were offerd. We never normally complain. The location was ok with plenty of taxis outside. The hotel staff were great they couldn't do enough for you.
The pool area was small but nice but only half the pool got the sun. There was a swim up pool bar but it was never open.To be honest we only went back to the hotel to shower and sleep beds weren't too bad.Bathroom was great problem more like a wet room. There was no coffee making facilities in the room. We are going back to Goa again but staying somewhere else. This hotel is probably one of the poshest hotels in Calangute. I think we were just unlucky with our rooms as my parent's room waw fab.

This was the first time we had been to Goa and consequently the first time we had stayed at Neelam's the Grand.
We received a letter from the travel company saying their were building works which did increase my nervousness about the hotel. It transpired that the works were suspended for the season and did not affect the holiday at all.
The hotel itself was very clean and we couldn't really have any complaints. The breakfast was a bit basic for our taste but that is probably more of a reflection on us than the hotel.
Never having been to Goa before I was nervous about the location, especially after the guide books recommended staying away from Calangute. The location was perfect for us. Close enough to the centre of the resort and beach but also quiet enough.
The staff were fine although I did notice that the service improved after I had tipped the cleaners midway through the holiday. Just little things but the a/c would be left on for us, fans on etc. Maybe it pays to tip first rather than wait until the end of the holiday.
I would note that we have a couple of random things 'stolen' from our 2nd floor balcony on evening(towel/ shorts/ bikini top (bottoms were left?!)) so it probably pays to heed to sticker about not putting stuff on the balcony to dry.
All in all I would certainly return to the hotel.

We booked a late deal to Neelams with Thomson and got a good price. We had previously gone to Goan heritage and would have returned but it was coming up too expensive. The heritage was better location wise being on the beach but the rooms at Neelams were much better.
We paid an extra

Chose a late deal with Thomson with allocation on arrival. Wow, for our first time in Goa we were thrilled. My partner, me and my daughter was placed in a fantastic 2 roomed apartment on the ground floor with a balconey overlooking the pool. my 2 sons had another 2 rooms on the back of the hotel. Our rooms had a fridge, tv and a/c. Fred our cleaner was fantasic, as was all of the staff. We were spoilt there and all treated like royalty. Finding it very hard to find anywhere, this good. The entertainment was ok, just!! But after a bottle of honey bee, who cares, we applauded anything, even the huge bat who swooped past one night!! Used Raj the taxi driver for most of our trips. Can't say much more, Fantastic. Wish we could afford it for 2008, shame it's gone all inclusive. Thanks also to Shyam, who we have kept in contact with.
