We have been to Goa once before and know the standards to expect.

The hotel food, was above standards with a different theme of food every night catering for all the family and if theres something else you want the chef is more than willing to accommodate to your tastes. Yet there is not enough space for every one to sit down and eat, we had this problem numerous times and were just told to go down to the other restaurant that only did Chinese. The Chinese was unbeliveable for an all inclusive I only wish they had it in England, but as I'm sure you can understand you just dont always fancy Chinese! There is also no entertainment at that restaurant.

The rooms we heard had just been refurbished...they were dark and dingy, we had dirty bed sheets, there are plug shockets in ridiculous places and no protection over mosquitoes that resulted in you getting eaten alive. Towels only get changed every two days and are sometimes left on your bed folded up and still wet. The room in a whole is badly designed.

The pool area hardly ever gets a spot of sun because the way the hotel is designed and also having the same problem as eating, not enough room. The pool is relatively small when you do manage to get a sunbed with no sun.

Entertainment was light yet always something different with singers, dancers, fire eaters and a mime artist that came over to your table. You cant fault it for the standards of Goa.

The location was good as its just off Baga road were alot of good bars and restaurants are open till the late hours. As well as being able to get on to Baga beach.

It must be said it was the staff that made that hotel what it is. Afer greeting you once with a warm welcome they knew your name for the rest of the holiday. Always willing to help never a day with out a smile, asking how your day has been and basically looking after your every need.

The hotel reception staff though we found rude and unable to help with any problems that arose. The management were even worse hardly ever there and again unable to help you with any minor problems.

Would we visit this hotel again...I think not even though the staff would be missed.

Just an update to my previous report. Our fourth visit and it is as good if not better than previous.

Some modernisation of the rooms, new shower rooms and the most important of all in the Baga, a working generator.

The food is brilliant, with a choice of menus, engish, indian and of course the Thai Restaurant, with all Chinese,Thai and Asian foods. The Kim Fah may be the best but this is not far behind.

Food quality and cleanliness is of the highest standards.
The Staff are all the regulars offering the usual excellent service.

I still give it 10 out of 10

Had a fantastic 2 week holiday at the Santiago Resort.

The rooms are basic, but kept very clean as is the hotel generally. We really enjoyed the food being curry lovers, but there was lots of choice if curries aren't your thing. Evening meals are a la carte plus a range of specials.

The hotel is down a side road away from the busy main road. There are always taxis available outside the hotel with helpful drivers and very low prices. The beach (very busy) is a short walk away, quieter beaches are a short taxi ride away. Staff at the hotel are very friendly and helpful, they can't do enough for you.

Entertainment is not very exciting - singers, local dancers, good magician doing tricks at your table. Good if you just want a few drinks after a good meal.

Check out he beauty parlour, great service at unbelieveable prices. Many guests are regular visitors to the Santiago, we're about to join them.

Booked a return trip the day after returning to England!

Having stayed at the Santiago for 2 weeks, I can honestly say it was much better than I expected.

The quality of the food and the friendliness of the staff was fantastic. You can order freshly cooked meals off either the indian/chinese/thai menus every night(except buffet Sundays).

The cleanliness of the hotel was first class(they were even sweeping the leaves up as they were hitting the floor).

The waiters made you feel welcome and did a fantastic job looking after you.In general, all the staff were brilliant.
The hotel is located down a narrow lane off the busy baga road, and is very peaceful.

I would not hesitate in staying here again.

This was a good base to explore and not too far from the beach.

The pool area is very small and not enough sunbeds, they are always taken as soon as they are put out each morning

Staff were helpful, but quite a few people in the hotel had food poisoning and were not well at all. We were not sure if this was due to the hotel or the beach shacks.

We had 3 cockroaches in the room (which I quickly disposed of!!) and the air conditioning was always off between 6pm and 11.30 pm (not good if you are ill)

This was our 4th time to Goa, I would not stay at this hotel again.

Me, my mum and some family friends stayed at this hotel for 2 weeks and had a great time.

The hotel was very clean and the bed sheets and towels were changed every other day and pretty shapes were made with the clean towels on your bed.

Food in the hotel was gorgeous and was Indian, English, Continental, Chinese and Thai. None of our party got ill and we ate in the hotel every day except for 2 nights when we visited the sister hotels.

The staff in the hotel were friendly and made you feel at home. I'd give them 11 out of 10 for their friendliness. The day I met them I felt like I had 2 families instead of 1.

The entertainment was quite good with different things like Karaoke, a magician and traditional dancing.

The taxi service was great and the drivers would take you wherever you wanted to go for just a few rupees.

This was the best holiday I've ever been on and I'd love to visit this hotel again. (and thats coming from a 15 year old)

Hiya stayed at this hotel for Xmas and New Year must say the hotel was very basic!!

We had a top floor room that was at the top of 2 flights of stairs (no lifts) which was very dangerous at night when the lights went down. No emergency lighting, my daughter sprained her ankle tripping going down the stairs 1 night in the dark.

It had 1 bedroom and a side room that I had to sleep in and a bathroom. Bathroom was just a shower and loo and sink that had seen better days. The bedroom had 2 single beds in it and a wardrobe and a small shelf on the wall for cosmetics!! Could have been a lot bigger as we were 3 females. The side room where I slept had a sink and a settee and a fridge and that was it, oh and a plant in the corner.

To be honest I found this hotel very depressing as everything was dark and dismal even the bar area.

The room itself was very dark and I mean dark. The electric light was about a 15 watt bulb. The problem was at night, the power went down and so the light went down as well. We had to get our things ready to go out in in the day when we could see, you couldn't put makeup on with it, and you had no chance of reading which I love
and the electric went down at the same time each night and that was all over the hotel. It was very dim and dismal when this happened. We hardly spent any time in the hotel for this reason.

The bar area looked dismal as the shelves were empty nothing at all on them, so its derelict.

The pool in a small kidney shape which had around 8 sunbeds and when we tried to get one they were all gone they needed a lot more but the pool is to small to put any more round.

I found the food very limited not like other Goan hotels I've visited and stayed in, the only area that was bright was reception!!

My wife and I have been to this hotel twice and are booked to go in Nov2006 and March 2007. Obviously we like it.
It is an older hotel, the rooms are clean and large.

We don't use the pool area, the beach is much cooler, but it is clean and well maintained. The food is tremendous,Indian,English and the thai and chinese reataurant.

Perhaps the best thing of all is the staff, all very friendly and can't do enough for you,and its the same staff every year,as well as the same tourists who book year after year.

Its a great hotel.

This was our second visit here in consecutive years and I think it's the first time that either of us had ever felt that we weren't missing out by not going to a different hotel. The Santiago is an older hotel, and the accomodation is reasonably basic by our standards, but I think it's important to remember that you are in India, not St. Lucia.

The Hotel is Incredibly clean and tidy, literally not a flower or leaf out of place. The staff are genuinely friendly and cannot do enough for you.

Food in the hotel is very good, we were all inclusive but I'd recommend that you don't limit yourself, the food everywhere in Goa is fantastic.

Entertainment in the hotel is of a good standard, but not really our thing.

I would recommend this hotel, but I would be keen to remind any first time visiter to Goa that they need to keep an open mind.
