Well this place looks nothing like the picture anymore. The restaurant certainly does NOT. But neither does most of them really what with the dust and general wear and tear....
However i have to say this is one of the dirtiest hotels i have stayed in. The matteress was absolutely filthy the sheets looked like they do not know about bleach and the towels the same.
The restaurant/breakfast area had all the restaurant staff sleeping on the tables till about 10am and then at any possible opportunity. there was no clean place to eat and the restaurant 'Cafe Roma' which rents the outdoor place (where you can see the umbrellas) shut on 15th April so there was no water available at the hotel to buy.
If you are unluckily enough to have the rooms facing (as shown) you will find the staff sit outside if you are on the balcony.... not a problem unless you just wanna sit and have a peaceful drink in privacy.
There was bags of rubbish dirty laundry mops etc left in the hallways outside the rooms...... breakfast was a bit of a novelty... if you could wait for it you had to eat it on a small table in reception because the restaurant area was full of sleeping staff and no tables laid.....
after the cafe closed the area was left in a mess for 5 days.. staff were seen throwing bottles over the wall smashing in the land next to it - so increasing the every growing piles of smelling rubbish accumulating there!!
There was an incident one eve when staff attacked another member of staff (young boy) in front of tourists...
However, the main hotel staff are lovely, friendly and welcoming and would recommend it for the staff but in honesty i would NOT recommend this place at all.
We complained about stuff and the owner turned up that eve bringing bottles of alcohol and took some people out for lunch - unfortunately she did not bring pristine clean sheets or cleaners who know how to wipe surfaces clean.....
however by the next eve the restaurant area had been cleaned tables laid out clutter removed and boys not sleeping on tables and they had tableclothes on them. the cafe area was cleaned of the tins and bottles that had been there for a week since closing and it all began to look hopeful.... that was when i realised the owner was on site with a client potentially looking at how to use the hotel next year..... so as to do some damage limitation.....
So if you book this do it advised!!!!
Location is good as its near the beach and is on the quieter part of calangute and there is a good italian cafe on site (almost) should you wish to join. It was pretty popular place and this is the end of the season... so things are quiet and closing so the standards probably are too easy to drop if there are not many clients... but ............. !!

Had a very enjoyable stay. It was better than we expected, it even had a pool which was not advertised. We have visited India several times and found the Shruti to be at the top end of the budget hotels. The staff were very friendly and accomodating and on the last day they even got up early to prepare breakfast for us. Will definitely go back.

Small guesthouse type hotel.
Room was clean but basic. Our room had a balcony overlooking the resturant (Romas italian resturant) which had very good food.
The hotel staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was the usual tea/coffee and toast and jam which was ok.
Quiet location, enjoyed our stay there, and would use this hotel again.
