Just to refresh and expand my last review. I think that there are just 2 hotels nearer the beach than this but only by 20 yards or so.
So, a very good location at the bottom of Beach Road, although some may be concerned with noise from restaurants etc at night but very handy if you want to walk far for your meal with Alexandras,Inferno,21 cocos, Coyote, Teamas and Sheetal all within 1 min walk.
All the rooms are slightly different in layout and size but all seem to be adequate for their purpose. Ones at the front overlook Beach Rd with a balcony, good for people watching. Rooms at the back were not to my liking and I wouldn't use them although some guests found them preferable. Possibly a view over Silver sands pool for some of them.
Noise from the restaurants nearby, Teamas etc, was not intrusive or a problem most nights. We were able to have good sleep most nights and beds are better than most with proper UK style mattresses. Rooms are still spotlessly clean and linen etc changed often without problems. Fly screens on all windows including the shower room.
Beds in the rooms we saw were all twins (quite big ones) but some appeared made up as doubles occasionally. Ample storage for clothes etc.
One oddity is that toilet rolls are to pay for (rps30).Never had this elsewhere!
Room boy supplies these and also bottled water by the box at reasonable price, ditto he also looks after any laundry.
There weren't tea making facilities, I understand that a kettle can sometimes be borrowed/rented but would advise a travel kettle etc.
Shower room is good and clean without being luxurious and hot water is usually available, (although for three or four evenings we struggled a bit but this cleared up after neighbours in next room went home!)
Price paid for 2013 were a bit under rps 1700per room per night, BUT, this may be a special price for repeat customers staying for a few weeks. This included A/C, TV, ceiling fan and fridge.
I was told that this did not include breakfast but was served with tea and toast etc without any charge, again this may be for repeat bookings etc. There are lots of repeat customers and the rooms are booked up very quickly.
There are safety boxes in the reception, appear to be quite secure and concealed, can’t remember the cost but it was not excessive.
Good idea to take your own padlock although these are avaialable at reception.
Some issues regarding changing rooms halfway through holidays for some customers, again maybe to accommodate regulars in their favourite rooms.
Owner is very nice and was very helpful when I was taken ill the first week or so and assisted with doctors, chemist etc etc.(illness not connected to hotel or food etc). This is not the London Hilton, but for the money is very good value in my opinion.
A bonus is that it is above what is one of the very best restaurants in Candolim, (goes by the same name) so you can almost always get a table!

Alexandras Tourist Centre is at the bottom of Beach Rd Candolim , opposite Inferno restaurant.
The rooms are basic but adequate and are kept spotlessly clean. Lots of storage. Air conditioning is available (I think it was 100 rps per night).
Beds have a proper mattress and bedding is changed 3 times a week. Ditto towels.
Location gave some concerns about noise at night but this wasn't a problem but light sleepers may need to consider ear plugs.
Safety deposits available as are TVs at extra charge.
One odd thing is that toilet rolls are charged for 30 rps.
A good budget hotel with lots of repeat visitors, books up early.
