Highland Beach is not on or even close to the beach. The name is very misleading.
A dump of a hotel. Old, old and dirty. Why people return year after year is baffling, maybe they have not ventured further.
To be honest it was nice to have two bed apartment but the aircons are noisy, the bed linen is beyond grey and good luck if you want to view the tv in your room because apart from frequent power cuts you will find the tv reception bad, so bad that you cannot view tv clearly.
First thing you need to do when you step in your accomodation is to give it a good spray with mosquito repellant because the place is full of mossies.

The first thing to rember is that this is India. If you want 5 star then you will spend a fortune and you should not go to India. With that in mind this hotel is acceptable.
The rooms are large and the fridge a large benefit. It's true about the power cuts shutting of the TV for periods (not the hotels fault) but if you want to spend all your time watching TV then stay at home.
The staff were very friendly and helpful.
The hotel is about a ten minute walk away, no big deal as far as I am aware there are no hotels on the beach in Noth Goa.
The only problem we had with the two week holiday was with First Choice and the supposed upgrade to premium class.
May advice to other travellers is that don't bother.

Highland B.R. Two weeks was enough.
Plenty of building noise going on throughout the day.
Both swimming pools were not clean especially if you wanted a swim in the afternoon because both of them seemed to have a layer of sun tan lotion. As soon as you got in the water it was greasy and also had a strong smell of sun tan lotion, not very pleasant at all.
Another poster mentioned sun bed situation, they were not fibbing as sunbeds were hard to come by after nine am.

Hotel rooms a bit dated and curtains could do with a good wash but the room was cleaned every day and sprayed daily. The sheets and towels are a bit grey but it is the same in most hotels in Goa. Rooms were very spacious.
Staff were cleaning and sweeping around the hotel at all times. Breakfast was OK but if you ask for fruit, cereals or bacon you are charged extra. Omelettes were very good. Hotel was in a good location as it is close to shops, bars restaraunts. Staff are very friendly.

My second visit in as many years to this hotel. My 14th visit to Goa in 13 years.
I only had room service at the hotel due to spending meals with friends at other locations, likewise for not experiencing any of the hotel entertainment.
However the hotel rooms are very good, the rooms cleaned efficiently and issues resolved promptly.
The laundry service is excellent.
The hotel is away from the main road so there is no disturbance from traffic noise.

We thoroughly enjoyed our time at the Highland Beach Resort. So much that we are in the process of booking again for this year.
Yes, the hotel (in the older part) is not what you would expect in Europe or America but this is India. We had a lounge with a small kitchen area with a very large fridge freezer,as well as the bedroom and bathroom and a fairly large veranda.
The rooms were cleaned every day and sometimes the towels were not pristine white but if you asked they made a reall effort to supply you with really white towels etc. The air conditioning in the bedroom was essential.
The breakfast is adequate and you can eat as much as you want. There is a chef available who will cook egss anyway you want plus a choice of 5 options including cereal(3 may be Indian). You can also pay for a fruit plate etc if you wish. We didn't experience a problem with lack of tables but usually went down to breakfast at about 8.00am.
I lost a digital camera on the stairway, on my second day and by late afternoon I had it returned. It had been found by one of the young lads who cleaned the rooms. They did not even want to take a tip and when you think of the low wages they must be on.
It was about a 20 minute slow walk to the beach but there was plenty to see and something different every day.
We did not eat our evening meal in the hotel, simply because there were so many gorgeous restaurants a short walk away. The food is fantastic and cheap.

Our apartment was on the top floor overlooking the pool to the rear of the resort, excellent views through the morning mist.
It was a totally relaxing atmosphere and the staff were very friendly.
The taxis at the front pestered a bit on the first week but left you alone when you got a tan.
The pool attendants were great and ensured towels available.

The Highland Beach Resort is a really good hotel offering great value for money.
The accommodation is great for families as all the rooms are infact suites. For the three of us we had 2 bedrooms and bathrooms, one sitting room. Great!
