This was by far the most expensive hotel out of the 5 we stsyed at on our brief India tour. However, I found accomodation in Mumbai to be very expensive and reviews for cheaper accomodation are not often not very great.
What we liked about this hotel was its location. With two nights but only one clear day we chose to stay at Colaba Causeway- it was under 5 mins walk to the Gateway of India.
We had booked an executive room but on arrival were upgraded to the Thai Suite- which was stunning! ( It would have to be to spend £220 a night on it!) We had a huge lounge area with sofas, seats and dining table and chairs, tv, minibar and two picture windows, with an outlook to sea. You walked through to a changing area with plenty of wardrobe space and a safe. Off this was a suitably impressive bathroom. The bedroom was big and also had a tv and 2 picture windows.
Off the reception was the Tavern Bar which was very lively. There was a VJ there. We had snacks there and they were delicious. There was the Tamarind restaurant- we had breakfast there only but that was pretty comprehensive. There was a pool, a nail bar, a health club, an executive lounge-the list goes on! I can also recommend using the hotel cars for a tour of the city. A four hour tour cost £15 and we had a good guide for that. We would return there- but the Thai suite may have spoiled it for us- we loved it but certainly can't afford it:)
