We decided to stay one day and night in Mumbai on our way back from Goa as we had a very early flight on the Friday morning. The cost of hotels in Mumbai is on a par with any large city in Europe so they are quite expensive by Indian standards.
We were quoted 5,500 rupees for bed & breakfast. Unfortunately as we checked out at 2.30am we didn't sample the food.
The room was a reasonable size with a bed, a couple of chairs and a coffee table, fridge and flat screen TV on the wall. The bathroom was tiny but not really any smaller that our en-suite at home so no problem. The room also had aircon and ceiling fan. Sheets and towels were very clean as was the rest of the room. The lift was a bit of an experience as it's one of those with the metal gate but we only needed this to get the cases up and down stairs as we were on the 2nd floor.
There isn't much of interest around the hotel but restaurants were a cheap tuk tuk ride away. It is only a short walk to Juhu beach. The hotel provided a car to pick us up from the airport but we took a taxi on our way back for 300 rps.
All in all I would say the Royal Garden is a good basic hotel at a reasonable price for Mumbai and the staff were excellent.
