This hotel is handy for both domestic and international airports. It is in the business district so will be a bit of a taxi journey into the Colaba but I think the advantage is that it is a far better price as its further out. The security is something else. To reach the entrance you have to enter through a gate. You only do that once the taxi has been searched, the sniffer dog has been used and the underside of the taxi has been checked. To get through into the hotel you and your bags go through what you do at airport security.
Check in was smooth and we were in our executive floor room quickly. Sumptuous is the word I would use to describe it. Hopefully I can add some photos as a description won't do it justice. It has state of the art everything!! Wi-Fi is freely available everywhere in the hotel. If you are a bit on the shy side you might want to request one of the rooms which has frosted glass on the bathroom. Said bathroom has a roll top bath, separate toilet and shower cubicles (love the magazine rack and phone in the toilet!). In the bedroom there is a huge sofa with about a dozen pillows, a work station and seat. Like the fact that they have a range of every type of charger you would need. Nice little touch- when the turndown is done in the evening they will also shine your shoes. Look out for the bag which you use for this.
Club was beautiful- it's on the 14th floor. They even have a balcony section, although unfortunately the outlook is of new building work. There is a wide food selection. I've read other reviews which are less than complimentary but I think these folks did not realise that there was only the cold selection out. There was also a menu for hot food. Wide selection of drinks as well. Cocktail hour was from 6-8 and well worth splashing out on the executive floor for. Breakfast also had a menu for hot choices as well as the buffet. In fact, you didn't even need the menu as they assume that whatever you want, they will be able to provide.
We only stayed from late afternoon and until 11am the next day so did not really get a chance to see everything the hotel has. We ate at the Pondicherry buffet restaurant. The manager had shown my husband round it earlier. He was very enthusiastic. This restaurant is a bargain and the buffet cost was £20. Would highly recommend it.
All the staff were great. A bit taken aback when we walked into the Club for the first time and were greeted by name. I assume photos are taken at the entrance of the hotel.
I would love to stay there again! Please note that there isn't really anything within walking distance so taxis are needed. But it's just like an oasis of calm!
