my husband and myself stayed here for three nights in october, we were really impressed with the hotel, it was very clean and towels were changed daily. The room wasn't huge but it perfectly adequate and very new and modern with flat screen tv, iron, hairdryer, handsoap and shower gel dispensers on the wall, tea and coffee facilities refilled daily.
For us this hotel was in a perfect location as it was far enough away from the lively Temple Bar area but also reachable by a 15 minute walk if you want the night life, having said that there was a good bar a few doors away with cheaper prices, a good way to start or end your evenings.
Check in and out was smooth and a luggage room available to leave bags before check in.

I stayed at the Academy Plaza for 1 night B&B on June the 12th this year.
I chose the Hotel for its location and the excellent reviews on Trip Advisor. I have chosen hotels based on these reviews and have never been disappointed.
I made the booking through Ebookers after a search on Travelsupermarket. This produced the best price I could find for the hotel. Their web site stated that there was a special ebookers offer of a free breakfast.
The hotel is situated just off O'Connell Street and so the location was ideal as I wanted to be as central as possible especially as I was only there for 1 night.
This hotel has been partly rebuilt but with a complete refurbishment to a very high standard for a 3* establishment.
On arrival at the hotel the check in was speedy. There was a mix up however regarding the free ebookers breakfast. I had brought with me an email from ebookers confirming that I would be provided with a free breakfast. The voucher I had printed off with my booking did not show this. She made a copy of this email and said she would deal with it. I left it with her and went to my room which was on the first floor. There are 3 lifts and at no time did I ever have to wait any more than around 1-2 minutes.
My room was a double for single occupancy. It was at the back as I had asked for a quiet room. The room was smallish but it had everything I could possibly need. A very comfortable double bed with good quality bed linen. There was a desk with several drawers. One deep drawer contained the tea/coffee/kettle etc. Took me a while to work this out. There was a safe and adequate hanging space with enough coat hangers. There was a small table with one chair and the other chair was at the desk. A flat screen TV and with bed side lamps as well as a table lamp. Soft carpeting on the floor made the room very comfortable.
The bathroom was a good size with a tub and shower over the bath. The water pressure in the shower was excellent. The usual toiletries were provided and the hairdryer was in the bathroom. It was fully tiled and brand spanking new as everything in the hotel was. (The standard of cleanliness in the Hotel in general impressed me.)
I received a call from the Reception to say that there was no record of my free breakfast. They offered to give me a receipt for the breakfast so I could reclaim the cost but I declined this. A few minutes later I got a call from the Reception Manager to say that as I was their Guest they would give me a complementary breakfast. She said she hoped I would enjoy my stay at the hotel and that I would stay there again.
The hotel itself is situated in a little side street just round the corner from the Gresham Hotel in O'Connell Street. I travelled from the Airport on the Airlink bus (7 euro one way or 12 euro return) The bus made it's first stop here and it was literally 1-2 minutes walk.
The Hotel Foyer is bright and welcoming and I found the staff delightful. They have several seating areas which have black leather sofa's as well as several chairs. There is complementary use of computers in this area and whilst there were only 2 computers it was never difficult to gain access to them.
During my stay I saw a bus group on a tour arrive but at no time did it appear over crowded. People were dealt with swiftly by the reception staff.
Off this area there is a large comfortable bar which served snacks and typical bar food. I didn't eat there but did order coffee which I asked to be served in the foyer. There were complementary newspapers available.
There is an Asian Restaurant in the Hotel which had a special Early Bird offer of 19.99 euro for a 3 course meal. I think this offer extended to 7pm or perhaps 6.30pm.
I spent most the day out and about and returned to the hotel at around 9pm. The following morning I had breakfast in the dining room. I went to breakfast at around 8.30am and it was fairly quiet at this time. Breakfast was a buffet with both the normal Irish Breakfast eggs bacon sausages etc. Cereal fruit both fresh and tinned (prunes and grapefruit segments) yoghurt juice etc Toast soda bread croissants etc. Tea and coffee were served at the table. The staff were attentive and a Manager was around enquiring if everything was satisfactory.
My check out time was 12MD so after breakfast I headed out and about again. I returned to the hotel and checked out at around 1pm. A porter came to my room to assist me with my bags and I was able to get a taxi from right outside the hotel.
All in all I had a very comfortable stay at tis hotel. I would not hesitate to return here and I would thoroughly recommend it to anyone.
On my return to the UK I contacted ebookers re the breakfast. They told me that the hotel were to submit a bill to them for payment.
I sent an email to the Academy and received a reply from Peter the Manager. He said he knew of the situation and was glad that the matter had been dealt with satisfactorily by his staff.
