We stayed at this hotel for Easter 06 and booked through needahotel.com and also used the taxi transfers.
The location is superb, it is opposite the Temple of Vista and just around the corner from the Forum and Colosseum. The bridges opposite take you into Trastevere (hope spelt correct) where locals eat so much cheaper. Averaged 15 euro for 3 or 4 courses on a set menu.
The hotel it's self is very modern and it has a roof top bar and restaurant. A bit pricey for a drink but the view was amazing. Some reviews on tripadvisor.com complained of traffic noise, we were on the first floor and closed the electric shutters it was fine. In a city you have to expect some traffic.
Floor 5 has balconies but we could not fit a bed in for our son, these are not extra so if you would like do email the hotel and request. The room had a safe and minibar plus robes and slippers. We were lucky to be upgraded to a end room so the room was larger with our child's extra bed.
Can not recommend highly enough for both location and quality. We travelled with our son who is 8 and he was made very welcome, he left with a t-shirt and Easter Cup full of chocolates.
We used a company called Romanodessey.com for our tour of the Vatican and they were excellent on 7 on our tour so very personal. The guide was American and she kept our sons attention for 6 hours so she must have been good.
Give the fortyseven a try I am sure you will not be disappointed. If you are looking for a old traditional hotel this is not for you, it is very modern in design but we really liked this. It was popular with guests from the US.
