Kiridra Hotel – Luang Prabang Nov 2011
The Kiridara is a modern, stylish boutique hotel (24 rooms) which is located a few minutes outside of Luang Prabang town, set into a gentle hillside.
We had a deluxe room with a pool view balcony – the view was gorgeous and surpassed only by the stylish decor – minimalist in appearance but with all necessary amenities, down to an iPod dock!
The shower, loo and washing (double sinks) areas were separate – offering both privacy and space. The living / sleeping area was roomy and there was more than sufficient hanging / drawer space for clothing and bits and bobs. Furnishing, bedding, pictures and textiles were beautifully designed and co-ordinated providing a relaxing and pleasing environment.
Excellent, friendly staff who didn’t seem able to do enough to please. The hotel manager always made a point of chatting and ensuring that everything was to our satisfaction.
There is a reasonably sized pool area and sun deck which is elegantly designed with ultra modern features and a smallish, though perfectly adequate, infinity edge pool. There is a spa, where we had a steam and massage. This was very good value and one of the finest massages that I have experienced – definitely full marks here.
The hotel operates complimentary transport into town. We particularly enjoyed their electric tuk-tuk, although we were also taken into town in their mini-bus.
There is a dining room, complemented by a dining area on the poolside deck. We did not have dinner in the hotel, but had breakfast every day in the dining room. The breakfast selection was good, food cooked individually and service, as always, very good.
A most enjoyable stay which was greatly enhanced by the warmth and friendliness of the staff.
This review is a personal opinion, based upon a 3 night stay in November 2011.
