We stayed at this hotel for two weeks during February on an all inclusive basis. We have been to a number of beach resorts around the world and this is the worst. We choose this hotel because of the good reports on Tripadvisor.
From landing at Male it took us 6 hours to get to the hotel. Leaving the hotel and departing Male took about 5.5 hours. This is too long when you have a 10.5 hour flight. However, the transfer time does depend on local flight connections.
During our holiday there was building work on the beach, pool and bar. It was very noisy at the pool. Our tour operator did not tell us about this.
Despite the hotel’s regular fumigation you will get bitten inside the room and out. We came home with many nasty bites despite taking precautions. We had ants in our room who were biting us.
The accommodation included a very basic bathroom and the renovation was poorly done and incomplete. The room had a router but there was no WIFI throughout our stay.
Although supposed to be WIFI in rooms and public areas it never worked.
Most hot food served cold or warm at best. Many grilled meats tough and inedible. Maldivan food offerings too peppered and salted for European tastes. Food gave me bad stomach cramps and I ate ‘safe’ foods to avoid problems. Wife more adventurous had bad stomach for 10 days during holiday and 3 days after. This was the worst food we had ever experienced in the Maldives.
The worst was that the hotel had day guests who are local. They were incredibly noisy and treated other guests with contempt. They swim in the pool with their clothes and handled food in the buffet. They generally made the holiday experience very unpleasant for other guests. Staff would not get involved even after many complaints. The manager did nothing and was unhelpful.
If you expect a white sandy beach and turquoise sea forget it. There was no beach it was mainly rocks and the water was murky and weedy. It was difficult to find a good spot to swim. Off the beach snorkelling is hard work with poor visibility (sandy and weedy). We did see fish but not many. The snorkelling trips we went on we did not see any fish.
The staff were generally friendly.

Hotel tip: Before booking check if there is renovation work and local day guests during your stay. Spend more and go to a decent resort
