Location
1 bed apartment was very basis but had everything needed for our stay. the rooms we had and the rest of the hotel was spotless clean. Our balcony was above the pool and I watched the staff clean every day.
We started our holiday self catering but after trying the food, went half board, it was very good. The staffs were all very friendly and I must thank them for making a birthday cake for my 7 year old son on arrival. They also went out of their way to accommodate my sons fussy eating habits, often making him something which was not on menu; he was well and truly spoilt.
The hotel was central but not noisy. Our family would not hesitate in staying at the Mavina again.
The only downside was lack of a beach, however, as we were leaving, a man made beach was almost finished being made.

Location:
Directly opposite to Mavina is a 5-story apartment with in-between a noisy and crowded street. Doors to the small balcony mostly need to be closed in order to ban out the noise.
Apartment / rooms
The apartment has a stairwell, no elevator (a problem for people on age with heavy suitcases)
No airco but a fan in the bedroom. Rooms are clean but very basic and definitely needs to be renovated.
Breakfast (half board)
Basic offering, 3 type of breads an egg and as sandwich filling cheese, meat and jam. Coffee, tea and jus available
Diner (half board)
Basic offering daily selection between, 3 starters, 3 main courses, 2 sweets. And although the service is friendly, you will be ready within the hour. (After completion of the starter, main course is there within seconds)
Sports
A small pool is available with limited space for beds around it. Also a snooker table can be used
Summary:
Although Mavina is a 3-star hotel, the apartment probably is not
Instead of half board, ordering from the menu does give a broader selection (dining outside is probably a good alternative).
The location of Mavina is not ideal, the street is noisy and as soon as the apartment on the opposite side of the road is operational, privacy will be minimal.

Our room had a ceiling fan which did nothing in that heat!! It had wires hanging out of it!! We had to hire 2 extra fans which still didn't help we had to get up in the night and have 2-3 cold showers to try and get cool we even sacrificed ourselves to the mosquitoes by leaving the windows and doors open on a night to try and get some air in the room!!
We had the company of several cockroaches and the balcony had nothing but a brick wall around it with no views whatsoever apart from a dirty nappy and a pair of dirty old knickers on the plastic roof below!!
Towels where changed once in the week that we were there and bed linen was'nt changed at all, we had to pay to get our sheets changed!!
The furnishing was like a prison cell, the first night that we arrived we stayed out until 5.30 in the morning until we were drunk enough to pluck up the courage to go back!! It is lucky that we have a good sense of humour because we would never have made it through the week otherwise!!
I wouldn't give these apartments a rating at all and we are glad to be home!!

We have stopped at the Mavina four times and in different apartments and found it to be clean and tidy, with all the necessary items you need to enjoy self catering.
The staff are very courteous and helpful, there is a swimming pool for adults and a smaller one for the children and the pool is cleaned every night.
You can if you wish have your meals in the pleasant restaurant or go to the many excellent restaurant nearby. It is ideally located for the bus terminus (you cannot hear any noise from it) and the stroll along the promenade to Bugibba centre it very pleasant and there are many shops and entertainment areas along the way.
This is not 5 star accomodation but it earns it 3 star status, highly recommended.

You have a decent cooker, a very good fridge and all the cutlery, crockery and pans were extremely clean.
The reception staff and the cleaners were very polite and helpful. We did not use the pool or the restaurant facilities as we have our own favourite restaurants very nearby.
There are quite a few small superstores nearby which sell all the foodstuffs you could require.
All in all a good place to stay.

Situated 5 minute stroll from the hotel to the seafront we found this hotel ideal. With friendly, helpful and courteous staff.
We found our apartment spotless with all the necessary facilities for our self catering holiday. Two single comfortable divan beds. A table and chairs, settee and wardrobes and a well designed kitchen and cooker. Our apartment overlooked the swimming pool and a nice view across fields to the hotels across the way.
We occasionally dined in the restaurant and the food was excellent and well presented.
The bar and lounge offered comfort and a nightly sing along with good artistes.
We can only say this ....We have booked again for 2005 and give this hotel a 4 star rating.
