When we first went to check in we were told that we were not all inclusive but clearly our tickets said so. So after nearly an hour it was sorted out. Then we were told we would have to wait a while because our room was not ready, bear in mind it was 4.30pm and all guests have to vacate there room by 11am that day. So we went for a drink while our room was ready in the Irish bar in the hotel.
The only Irish thing in there was the Guinness pump. The next thing we saw was no smoking in the bar and ended up in a side room designed for smokers, to be quite honest it was more like a refrigerator.
On entering room we had 2 single beds a TV, wardrobe, dressing table and the bathroom ooo the bathroom. The bath was ok with a hand shower not suitable for a decent shower, and the toilet that when flushed did not fill up; we had to fill the cistern ourselves. So we complained several times and after two whole days it was fixed. If you are a young couple with kids it's a definite no no.
The entertainment was none existent, bingo was all we had, with two old people entertaining. Lots of old people who would not even get on the club circuit in the uk.
We had the idea of trying an odd meal out in a local restaurant, but the local decent restaurant was 30 mins by foot.
The hotel staff in both the San Anton and Santa Maria were ok but some were a bit abrubt. If it was not for us meeting some people our age 40 to 45ish we would have been totally bored. We felt sorry for the kids that were there. There was nothing for them to do at all.

Right the nitty gritty.
The hotel was clean, the pool area clean, but be warned the out side pool water temp would ruin brass monkey. The staff were brill, just ask for any thing and it"s done.
The reception staff were second to none especially Melanie, there duty manager Mr Valour, was just the same.
The food had a good selection, but the breccies need looking at, bacon was very fatty and the sausage were fried hot dogs (yuk).
Our room was great too double beds, wardrobe dressing table+bed side cuboard. The bathroom was clean and full sized bath with hand shower.
Our room was cleaned every day (ex Sun),and when do not disturb, but clean towels left on door handle.
At night we visited a few local bars. Peperones were recommend also Jester just roud corner. All in all once again a brill hol But please Cavendish get your breakfasts sorted.
Thanks for another great stay.

I booked this holiday for my Mum and Dad for a fortnight and myself and a friend for a week.
We were very pleasantly surprised when we arrived, the Hotel from the outside looked modern and clean and the reception area was well catered with chairs tables and the reception staff were extremely helpful. We were allocated a room in the main Hotel and were "gobsmacked" when we entered because the room was MASSIVE with two king size double beds the only downside if you can call it that was the size of the balcony but that was no matter to us. Fridges. safe keys and tea and coffee making were available to hire for a small charge. Also there is a TV and the ceiling fan was excellent as it had a speed control facility.
The dining area was very clean and the staff are second to none - nothing was too much trouble. The food was different though - the chefs we thought couldn't get there head's around how to cook potatoes!! Every night they were under cooked!! And it would seem they also like the taste of pepper - a little too much!! (comments were made to the Direct Holiday Rep whilst we were there about the food and it is being dealt with) But on a good note there is a carvery every night (pork, beef, lamb, chicken, gammon) which was always very nice a fish or chicken dish and vegetarian or pasta option so there is plenty of variety - the breakfasts were English apart from the sausages which were like frankfurters!! But again everything was always hot and one of the staff is always about checking the temperature of the food at regular intervals.
The facilities in the Hotel are very good - Internet access if you want and the pool area was very nice - with a Jacuzzi on the sun rooftop area which was fantastic.
There is an "Irish pub" in the hotel but to be totally honest its about as Irish as me!! Also as we arrived on the 5th October the Maltese government had introduced a new law - you are not allowed to smoke inside any of the bars or lounges on the Island, which meant that the small terrace area outside the hotel was inundated with people!!
The entertainment in the San Anton was poor but because there is entertainment in the sister hotel the Santa Maria (across the road) it made up for it - special mention for the great Karaoke on Monday nights!!
All in all we all had a lovely time - it was a 3 star hotel and we would definitely stay there again. Try it you might be pleasantly surprised if only because of the size of the rooms and the Jacuzzi!!

the food in the hotel was not the best; most of the carved meat was very stringy and the potatoes would of been much better cooked.
We had food from the pool bar some was alright but some was very poor.
We were on all inclusive and you pend most of your time quing for your drinks.
If you are going to this hotel I would stay in self catering and go out.
If your in high summer your bed room will be like a sweat box the fan in the room is just not good enough.

Hotel ok some rooms needed a refurboshment. Lucky top floor, huge balcony, but bathroom damp in one corner.
Got a nice Irish bar and a nice Jaccuzi.
Have travelled a lot what you pay for is what you get like the guy who sold me the holiday said come to Malta.
I will go back hopefully.
The food is ok, the beer is ok.
The entertainment - bingo, if kids, plenty cash needed for games, no mini club that's what lets this down even though went with no kids. I hope it would be better in high season. But my time is quiet time so had a chillville break on a budget well worth the cash.
