We returned on 2nd June after staying at Duncan's for 2 weeks.
We were in room 2 which is just behind Room 1. Our room was much different, fairly small with 2 single beds (could be pushed together), a wardrobe with ample hanging space, small eating table with 2 chairs, dressing table and a small night table beside one of the beds.
The linen was changed frequently and was clean although a few times we had sheets with holes in them. Also, there was a lot of fluff under the beds when we moved them to tidy up and also under the dressing table.
We had a sink, small fridge, 2 of everything ie cups, plates, 4 sets of cutlery. Free coffee, tea and sugar. TV on the wall with a couple of English channels. The free standing oven mentioned wasn't available when we were there? Whether the occupants in Room 1 had put it in their room I'm not sure but we didn't see the oven at all. Consequently we had no-way of making anything hot to eat.
The bathroom was very large with a sink, toilet and, for the size of the room, a very small shower. I'm not big by any stretch of the imagination and I found it a bit too small.
There's a small balcony with a side view of the sea. Unfortunately we only had one chair so had to pull out one of the dining table chairs if we both wanted to sit out. I did request another chair but it must have been forgotten about as it never turned up.
The hosts were very welcoming and nothing was too much trouble for them. We had a lift to and from the airport by the father and it only took about 15mins.
We didn't use the upper large terrace at all but did pop up for a look and it was really big with fantastic views over the resort.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Duncan's and wouldn't hesitate to go back. When booking please enquire about the different rooms as they are all of various sizes. We were given a room for a shower on our last day which was at the back of the hotel and it had 4 beds, microwave oven etc so do check first if you are wanting facilities.

We are just back from 15 nights at Duncan Guest House in Marsaxlokk and must confess to missing wakening up in room 1 and looking out over the harbour from our balconies, there are 2 balconies in this room.
As arranged we were picked up at the airport and taken the short 10 minute journey down to Marsaxlokk and our accommodation at Duncans, where we had a warm greeting from Michael and David. Our room wasn't quite ready (which wasn't a problem) so we left our bags and went out for a bit of basic shopping, milk etc.
By the time we got back our room was ready and we were able to get settled in, the room has plenty of drawer and hanging space with a large 3 door wardrobe and 2 bedside cabinets and a chest of drawers.
There is a small but adequate kitchen area with sink and fridge, cutlery and crockery is supplied as is a fridge, toaster, also a kettle with tea and coffee supplied, there is also a small table and 2 chairs for eating at should you wish and a TV with some satellite channels and a DVD player.
If you want to heat any food there is a small cooker with 2 rings and an oven in the corridor that you can lift in to the room, however there are no pots/pans but you can heat food.
The bathroom was large with a bath and shower over it, clean towels are supplied every day and clean bedding every three days.
The room has 2 single beds which are pushed together to form a double depending on your preference.
There is free of charge air conditioning that is operated via a push button timer that you can have on for either 30 minutes, 1 or 2 hours before it cuts off and you have to restart it (no big deal) and an oscillating fan is also provided in the room.
You also have an iron and ironing board which complements the washing machine and clothes drying area located on the roof. A twin tub (haven't seen one in years) is free for guest use and you can do a washing very quickly and hang it out to dry while you are out, this facility is also fantastic by allowing you to reduce your luggage weight.
The actual room is a large size corner room with 3 windows, 2 of which open out on to a balcony, absolutely perfect for people watching and looking over the pretty harbour and the traditional Luzzi fishing boats. We spent many hours sitting watching the world go by with a glass of wine or beer on the balcony.
Duncan Bar and Restaurant as the name implies is more than just accommodation, there is also a bar and restaurant located down below at ground level where you are able to purchase (if not already included) a continental or cooked breakfast, I must mention that despite it being directly below our room we never heard a thing, to be honest we never heard any noise, not even when the large Sunday market was getting set up.
Once you open the balcony doors or window you did get a surprise by the noise and activity however there are both outer and inner doors/windows that stop the noise entering the room, didn't even here the bells from the church next to us.
There are a surprising amount of places to eat in Marsaxlokk, I counted at least 23 ranging from one Chinese (which is located above another very expensive restaurant (Tartarun) just opposite Duncan and looking in to it from our balcony it was quite busy most nights) to a small local fried chicken place. As you would expect the majority of restaurants serve locally caught fresh fish (which you can choose) however every restaurant also serves freshly prepared meat and vegetarian dishes, if you like pizzas you will love a Maltese pizza.
If you want a slightly more modern look and menu away from the traditional Maltese style restaurants head along to South East Cafe which is always popular.
The prices and quality of many of the restaurants are outstanding and you should go out and try a variety of different ones as some are far nicer and superior than others.
We had booked room 1 directly with Michael when we were in Marsaxlokk in March so we knew what we were getting and were looking forward to a pleasurable stay and that is exactly what we had.
Michael and his brothers are excellent hosts and nothing is a bother or problem for them, they go out of their way to help you and we cant wait to go back to room 1 and our balcony.
