Food, this is the hotels only real saving grace, the breakfast was top class hot and cold food and plenty of it if you wanted plenty, the is also a egg chef.
Dinner is a 4 course afair with a soup/pasta/main meal from a choise of fish/meat or veggie then a good choise of puddings or cheese board or both.

The hotel is right by the bus stops for getting around, just a short walk to the ferries for trips or the feery to Valletta.

The hotel staff did there job some with a smile and most with out one.

There was no entertainment round the pool in the day not even a bit of music, the night time in the bar was some times a man with a organ.

This was the second time me and the wife have been to this hotel the first time was at a new year for a week a few years ago and thought it was a nice hotel, so we went back again for our main two weeks.
This was a big mistake, over those few years this hotel has got grubby to be kind to it. The A/C units on the roof make a noise all night so we found it hard to get a good nights sleep and the rooms are small for a four star hotel (it used to be a three star till it changed its name) this hotel is well in need of a refurbish and it is my view that you keep away till it has had one.

We arrived at the hotel late in the night when we got to our rooms we found that the hotel had left a salad each for us this was very welcome because we were quite hungry.

We had a nice clean room only down side view out of window was looking into other rooms, they did have net curtain on windows.

Breakfast was brilliant it was a buffet style and has as much tea or coffe as you wanted. If we wanted an omelette or fried eggs these were cooked immediately by a chef waiting to cook for anyone that wanted one, we did not eat in lunch time so can not comment on this. Evening meal was mostly Al la carte and most nights the staff in the resturant would have the meals on display for us to see what we wanted. Other nights it would be buffet stlye main meal. the hotel is right opposite the harbour and very close to the bus stop etc.

Hotel staff were very friendly and able to advise us on local buses etc. The sauna in the hotel was very small and not very warm but everything else we were very pleased with.

One of your readers asked for a review on the Kennedy-Nova in Sliema Malta. I can tell you that it is a very nice hotel in an excellent position. To be fair, it isn't like the Sheraton or such but it is a comfortable place with excellent staff. It was also very reasonable priced.

My room was a very good size with its own bathroom. It was nice and clean. I was at the back of the building so the only view was of the lane but at least you get to see a bit of the real country that way.

The hotel is located on The Strand just across from the harbour so there are wonderful views across to Valletta. buses can be caught a few minutes walK. along the road and there is also a ferry service close by. The Strand has a big range of shops selling souvenirs of all kinds, plenty of cafes and restaurants, booking offices for tours and cruises, and quite a few other shops. There is a shopping centre a short walk away. In short a great location.

However, the food at the hotel is a very high standard so you can have all your meals there if you wish. I ate breakfast and dinner in the main restaurant and had lunch in the downstairs bistro a couple of times. There is a great choice for breakfast including cereals, fruit, rolls, bread, yogurt, juices and a number of cooked options. I actually had dinner at the hotel right through my stay and was well satisfied every night. It cost 5 Maltese lire per night for several courses. On entering, you were shown a display of what was on offer that night. There were pastas, soups, fish, meat and vegetarian choices along with dessert. The bistro in the foyer sells light meals and a range of drinks. Being Australian I particularly liked the pies. The staff there are also very obliging.

The staff in the restaraunt and the hotel proper were friendly and helpful. Something I had never seen before was that every afternoon the housekeepers would come around to see that you were okay and hand out lollies. All the staff seemed to be intersted in what you were doing and how you were enjoying yourself.

I didn't take advantage of any of the entertainment so I can't offer comments on that.

I enjoyed my time at the Kennedy-Nova. The best recommendation I can make is that I hope to be back in Malta next year and I have asked my travel agent to book me in again
