No ice, no glasses, restaurant was outside the hotel ,beds weren't comfortable ,they ask for £75 deposit on arrival we didn't know about this at all, breakfast was disgusting and cold and same every day . Very nice weather beautiful beach clear and clean beach water, lots of restaurant. Service of the hotel wasn't very good could have been better. I wouldn't rate this as 4 star hotel at all because no swimming pool and no sauna .nothing like four star. Rating I would give overall rating nice but expensive 3/10

I can honestly say that I never usually feel strongly enough about hotels to think of posting a review. I do appreciate that not everything can be perfect in a big hotel but in the case of Bay Street I have to say that I have never stayed in a supposedly 4* rated hotel that is so badly maintained. We spent 3 weeks at this hotel and during that time we got stuck in the lifts twice (at the odd times that they were working!!), one of the escalators was not working for the entire duration of our holiday, the windows of our room were so filthy that someone had written abusive words in the dirt from the outside, although how they managed to do it I do not know as we were on the 6th floor and could only open the windows about 2". At no stage in the Internet Cafe were all the computers working, it was normally 2 out of 4. Out of the 3 phone booths in the complex only one was working for the 3 weeks we were there. Now I go on to the food. Breakfast was okay/very average other than on one occasion when the bread was dotted with green mould. Dinner was a different matter. Only 3 choices of main meals every night - one fish, one meat, one pasta (all cooked to a frazzle!). Restaurant staff were very pleasant but seemed to have no kind of leadership whatsoever as trays were not replenished when empty - supplies of knives, forks spoons cups etc were not replenished and you spent half your time in there looking round for these things. The only thing they seemed to have organised was chasing people asking for their room numbers to ensure that nobody was eating who should not have been. To be quite honest, anyone trying to get in there who was not meant to would have soon been deterred from doing so again once they had tasted the food.

All in all I would say that this hotel is only suitable for teenagers who just needed a place to lay their heads after getting in at 5 am after clubbing all night right opposite the hotel. If you are an older couple or a family with children I would not recommend you even think about going here.

Had we realised the locality of the hotel to all the clubs then obviously we would not have booked to go there as the noise just goes on at full pitch all night right up to 5 in the morning. Maybe we should have done a bit more research on that before booking.

Every person we spoke to whilst at the hotel was of the same opinion as ourselves and I am sure that the long-suffering staff at this hotel must be constantly inundated with complaints.

Also for anyone who has any type of mobility problem stay away from here as whatever you want to do, other than go to the beach, involves an uphill climb or a treck up 65 steps albeit to go to outside shops, pubs or to catch a bus to anywhere else.

We spoke to our holiday Rep to ask if it would be possible for us to change hotels for the last 10 days of our holiday only to be told that to do so would cost us

Bay Street Hotel is situated on the upper floors of a shopping/entertainment mall which has a good choice of restaurants, a 24hr cafe-bar, the usual range of retail shops, a cinema and 10-pin bowling alley. It's about 5 years old and the large self-catering room we had was clean, bright and comfortable. The kitchen area was adequate and the room-service faultless (they even did the washing-up!).

The situation is excellent, about 50 metres from the small beach at St George's Bay and right opposite the stairs that lead up into Paceville (Malta's much smaller version of San Antonio) - Fuego club is literally across the road. A few minutes walk takes you into the centre of St Julian's with all its shops, pubs, restaurants and bus station. The proximity of so many bars and clubs (open until around 4am) and the usual takeaway food outlets makes this an ideal hotel for night people, but would also suit families if you are not looking for a particularly quiet holiday.

Each room has a balcony, but most of them face into the mall and the sounds do tend to echo up from the cafes putting out their chairs in the morning, to the revellers late at night . This is my only reservation in recommending Bay Street, but we didn't find it a problem - with the windows shut and air-conditioning on it didn't bother us.

Overall the location and generally high standard of the hotel more than compensated - the rooftop pool (with a children's pool and terrace) is awesome, with fabulous views across the bay and you really do have everything on your doorstep, including waterfront cafes where you can enjoy a full English breakfast (maybe on your way home from a good night in the nearby casino)!

We honeymooned at Bay Street Hotel and had a fantastic time. Our room was exceptionally large and was spotless. Balcony was too high to sit out on as it only had a glass barrier which was very offputting, but as we were so pleased with our room it didnt seem to matter. We were staying b & b, breakfast was pretty average, cereal, english breakfast and the same tinned fruit every morning.

We actually ate out for breakfast two of the mornings just for a change - also the only waitress in the morning at the hotel was never welcoming, she seemed to clear tables, slam chairs and rattle cuttlery constatly every morning - she didnt put us off though!

The rest of the staff were friendly and helpful, maids were lovely and the reception staff were too. There was no "entertainment" on at the hotel, as the hotel itself is the top 3 floors of a busy shopping complex, but there is ample going on in and around the hotel grounds as it is situated in the heart of Paceville.

Hotel Internet Cafe was very clean, but they insisted on playing very loud jazz music every day which was very off putting at times. I would visit this hotel again definately, we loved our time there.
