The Golden Crown Paradise resort is an adult only all-inclusive hotel located in the northern hotel zone of Puerto Valletta, Mexico. The hotel is designated as 5* by the Mexican system but 4* by First Choice. First impressions of the hotel when you arrive are very good. The hotel is located down a side street from the main link road through the area which gives the hotel good links to the downtown area and the marina, where many of the excursions are based from. The lobby area is open plan and you are greeted by the bellboys who always open the door of your taxi and greet you with a beaming smile. Because there were only 7 English guests staying at the hotel and with only one flight every 2 weeks, our 15 minutes transfer from the airport was by minibus rather than by coach so it was stress free with no other drop-offs. The bellboy directed us to the well-appointed reception desk for check-in while he sorted all our luggage. Check-in was a simple case of filling out a card for our rooms and the bar staff gave us a welcome drink of an alcohol-free strawberry daiquiri, which was most welcome after the 14-hour flight from Manchester. The receptionist was very helpful in explaining the hotel facilities that are quite extensive and provided us with our room card-keys, towel vouchers and vouchers for the three speciality restaurants. Just in case we forgot, a very useful pocket guide to hotel facilities and a plan was given for reference.
Once we were checked in, the bellboy asked for our room numbers and escorted us to our rooms that were all on the ground floor. The reason for this is the fencing on the balconies does not meet the height requirements of First Choice so all their guests are allocated ground floor rooms. Considering it
