We just returned from an amazing 2 week holiday as a family; Mum, Dad and 2 x girls aged 18 and 16. Always wanted to go to Mexico but thought wouldn't be safe outside of the hotel. Reviews for this hotel seem to be mixed.. sometimes people only write when they are only unhappy with something, so I wanted to be clear to write a review that is positive, as we absolutely loved this hotel!
Hotel is stunning; different standard of rooms available, but all are modern, large and have everything that you need. We stayed initially in a Junior suite and then upgraded to a Presidential suite - both were perfect. Junior suites have been recently renovated to a high standard. Presidential suite.. AMAZING!! The wildlife at the hotel is an experience on it's own.. iguanas, racoons, coatis, monkeys, lizards, hermit crabs.. all just roaming about.
Rooms are divided up to have different teams of Concierge that personally look after you with anything.. food, trips out.. anything.. Special shout out to our Concierge, Miguel and his team who helped us to organise food and trips out, with and without being organised trips.
Service from staff is clearly a high priority to the hotel. I have many food allergies / intolerances and every restaurant I went to was aware of it and catered individually for me. There was the main buffet and about 7 ala carte restaurants, plus special nights such as a Mayan night which you could pay extra for. A special shout out to Indira and her colleagues in the main buffet! The Mayan night is fantastic and well worth booking!
Then there was the restaurant in the members Beach Bar restaurant.. here food was made fresh to order and was simply stunning! The service here was the best I have found by far.. Drinks for members are all brands too.. Special shout out to the staff in the Beach Bar.. Restaurant Captain - Alexis and his team, Chef Freddy, Chef Ignacio, Waiters Amado and Carlos. Also the best cocktail maker Iver!
Also at the Beach Bar the towel guys and waitresses are great and give a very personal service.
The beach does have a lot of seaweed at this time of year, but so do most of the hotels in this area, depending on what way the wind is blowing.. however there are clear areas.
We did the following trips: Tulum to see the ruins - just caught the local bus outside the hotel which was very cheap and paid for a guided tour of the ruins on arrival. Felt very safe to travel.
Ferry to Cozumel - caught a local bus then ferry. However we didn't realize that the best beaches were a 4 hours round trip on arrival and you do need to allow for a full day here. Again very safe traveling.
Xcaret Park - booked through tour operator in hotel. Long, hot day, but so worth it.
Xplor - booked through tour operator in hotel; discounted if booked at the same time as Xcaret. Zip wires, jeeps through mud and jungle, swimming in underwater rivers and cenotes. Never thought I would do the zip wires, but I did them all.. great day out for all!
Also did the bike ride at the hotel to see where turtles lay their eggs and cenotes.. a hot 40 minute trip but again worth it.
Then of course there are the dolphins based onsite and the 2 x spas.
The hotel complex is vast, but there are carts that taxi you around. There are also shows, a late night disco.. but we struggled to stay awake too late..
What can I say.. the hotel totally exceeded all of our expectations and after 2 weeks there, still so much to do in this area.
Something also unusual is that most of the staff have worked there since the hotel first opened. Most have been there between 13 - 10 years. They say that the hotel is a really good company to work for that treats their employees well and offers career progression. A company that looks after their employees so well and then their visitors so well is an unusual but very pleasant find.
Definitely recommend this hotel!

My husband I visited this hotel with my disabled mother and I cannot fault it. We were served drinks round the pool, taught Spanish, took daily trips on the lazy river, drank the night away at the beach bar and were going by huge lizards by the pool. The rooms were spacious but cosy, kept very clean with towel art most days and a turn down service with a chocolate every day!! As the resort is massive we were ferried around on golf buggies as and when we pleased.
My husband actually said he hopes heaven is like this hotel!

An excellent hotel - relatively new with really spot on service and wonderful catering - exceptional levels for an AI property.
Huge rooms and great facilities. A little remote and a bit of a trek from the airport but well worth the journey
