Vila Branca is a small (17 room)hotel in a side street about 2 mins from the beach (and then on into old town Albufeira). It is very good value as it provides a room, en suite etc (we had a balcony and a fridge). Very clean.
Breakfast is very basic with rather disgusting 'orange juice', bread rolls and ham/cheese etc, cardboard cornflakes. Not great.
Would recommend as an excellent value base for staying in Albufeira. Street can be noisy.

I stayed here after transferring from a hotel in Portimao that was not desirable to myself.
After the previous hotel I was informed by the holiday company that this was a 3* hotel in my telephone call to them. After arriving it was indeed a 3* but not a hotel, it was a pension, which I have to admit I was a little unhappy with as the book didnt match the cover so to speak.
The receptionist was more than helpful and very understanding of my situation with the previous hotel. The room I had was very clean and tidy although the shower cubicle was quite small. Towels were changed daily and the rooms were cleaned daily, all in all it was kept clean.
The pension is located in a quiet part of the old town,15mins to beach and main square and is all downhill( which means coming back is all uphill!!).
I only had breakfast once and it was the usual 3* bread, bacon, eggs, beans, toast, tea & coffee which was not very good in my opinion but I,ve had worse.
The only downside was the building and maintenance work which goes on all day and if you want an afternoon nap, forget it as the echoes reverberate around the whole building.
