Late booking & un-named accommodation 4 days before so was delighted with the size of the accommodation & the complex in general.
Our apartment was well equipped including a washing machine/dryer. Nice touches such as tablecloths.
Rep' very helpful & friendly as were the staff.
Pool clean and grounds well kept, a bit of a scramble for a sunbed, as usual, otherwise a couple of grass mats in garden area was ok!
Supermarkets and bars close by good value for money.
Only downside was that our apartment was over the bar/shop areas at front of complex so noisy until very late,a bit more sleep would have been nice!! So if you are going pre-planned make sure that you ask for other end if you want sleep!

We stayed at Dunas for 11 in October 2004. The apartment itself was functional if a little basic for the money we paid. It was nice to be so close to the village and the beach.
There wasn't much open around the complex in October, which was a bit of a shame really as it was close to half term week, and the place was full, however I would stay there again.

We travelled to Alvor again this year, the accommodation was excellent plenty of space for our two year old daughter to play terrace overlooking the pool. The towels, bedlinen etc were changed that many times I lost count. The maids were very polite reception was open 24 hours a day and very helpful.
Dunas Do Alvor is ideally located for the beach and centre for shops restaurants etc.

Our apartment was on the first floor, almost directly above one of the bars so there was no chance of much sleep before 1.00 am, we were woken in the morning by the barking and howling of the wild dogs and the cafe owners setting up for the day.
Our room was large but worn - the curtains had holes in them, 2 lights were broken, the toaster didn't work unless you held it down - the cleaners didn't do a thorough job of the room and the towels and linen weren't changed regularly.
On the plus side (there is one, honest!) the pool was lovely (although there was a scramble at 9.00 am when it opened to get a sunbed - nothing new there though!) and there was a good choice of cafes and bars which were cheaper than in Alvor itself. The location was also convenienet for both Alvor town and the beach.

Hotel very clean, one bed apartment spacious, cooking facilities good if needed. Pool area very good, reception staff very helpful. Bars and supermarket were independantly owned, food good, staff friendly. Only downside was nothing for three teenagers to do apart from the pool and sunbathing, not even a pool table.
Location good, 5 minutes to village, about 10 minutes to beach but well worth the walk.
Ideal for families with young children as no noise at night (apart from the dogs barking).

The appartments were excellent. There is a 24 hour reception so you can leave your key for safe keeping. The rooms were spotless and very big. Our room had a fully fitted kitchen with a dining table for four in it. The location was also very good as it was near enough to walk to the town but far enough away to miss out on some pub noise. The staff were very friendly and great with my little girl. There are a couple of very cheap pubs within the complex but no entertainment as such.
We are definately considering returning and we are only back 3 days.

We have stayed at this apartment hotel twice.
The rooms we were given are owned by someone who left only the basic equipment for the "renters". However it was OK if not great. The location is the best..only 3 minutes to some of the best eating places in the Algarve. We ate out every night!
Only 3 minutes the other way is the best beach in the Algarve for walking (7 miles they say). Inside the hotel the halls are dark and cold in Feb/March and you will need a heater in the room. There are several lifts/elevators as it is 3 or 4 floors. The pool looks good but not heated.
There is a free parking lot and the staff is at reception all the time.

We found the hotel was lovely and clean, the staff were very friendly even the cleaning staff were friendly towards my son. Not that they could speak much English.
The pool was really nice with steps that go down into the shallow side, which was great for my son.
The food we enjoyed the only thing I didn't like was the smell of sardines but I dont like them anyway.
I liked these apartments so much We are going back Sept 2005.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone.

we booked a last minute holiday at low cost and did not expect to much however on arrival the Dunas was excellent, clean and large rooms well positioned and friendly staff. 5 mins walk from town bars etc..10 mins to the beach.
we cant complain.
