We booked Monte Dourada apartments direct from the owner. The complex was excellent and the apartment too. The only slight negative I can comment on is that there is some noise fromthe street and some bars at the front of the building. We were lucky because our children are all teenagers and able to cope with the disturbance but it may be too much for younger children. Having said that I would also say it is not a constant disturbance it is only on certain entainment nights so I would not be put off the place too much the positive far outway the negatives.

My friend and I and her 20 month old daughter stayed in a 2 bed ground floor apartment in the Bouganvilla block. It was close to reception and the entrance of the complex so it wasn't too bad for tackling the hill! The block consisted of 12 apartments around a pool and it was not that busy most days.
The apartment itself was lovely. There was a huge master bed with en suite including a full bath. There was also a twin room and a separate shower room. The kitchen was a good size and was very well equipped with a fridge/freezer, dishwasher, washing machine and full oven. The only thing it didn't have was a microwave. The living space was generous enough to take a 3 piece suite and 6 seater dining room table. All linen, towels and crockery were in good order. They even provided a table cloth and place mats. The maid came every day and the apartment was kept very clean.
Entertainment scores low as other than tennis courts and the pools there isn't anything for older kids to do in the complex so they may get bored.
I would be happy to stay here again.

We stayed on Monte Dourado and had a great holiday. Although I think there are apartments on the lower part of the site which have three or four floors with lifts, we stayed up the hill where there are ground floor and first floor apartments only. There were 16 apartments which shared a large swimming pool and a pool for children. The situation is perfect as provided you don't mind and have no prob with walking up/down a hill you are only 3 mins walk from the beach and have access to a great range of restaurants and bars. The food is delicious, especially the fish. I would say this is a couples and family resort as probably not a lot of action for 18-30 type holidays.
Our apartment was very well equipped. We had a maid every day and the pool area had parasols, sun loungers and was kept very clean. There is also tennis courts which our children enjoyed.
A hire car is good idea to discover the area but not really necessary as there's plenty of local corner shops and the market which sells fressh fruit, veg, bread, cheese, meat and fish is just across the road.
Would thoroughly recommend as a great place for a relaxing holiday.
