Portugal is a wonderful country and wonderful people, so chilled it's just the best. We stayed at this hotel out of recommendation; so knew it was going to be good, sadly the only thing that lets it down is the food. I travel a lot and do lots of formal events so have some experience in how these things can vary, I recently attended a catered event in London by Kudos delivered, they are the best catering company there is purely because they keep it simple. This is what this hotel needs to do. Stop all the fancy stuff and just keep it simple.

We booked the Marina Club after looking for somewhere out of Lagos but within walking distance of it. It was perfect. We had a 2nd Floor 1 Bed apartment with Pool View (Pool view Highly Recommended) in the original block. The apartment was huge for the 2 of us and would sleep up to 4 quite comfortably with 2 beds and 2 bed settees. The hotel is located on Lagos Marina which is very pretty with some very expensive yachts !
The apartment has everything you could need for self catering with Hob, Microwave. Fridge Freezer and lots of utensils.
Television also available with Sky News, BBC and ITV along with local channels.
We didnt use the restaurant for dinner but we got a B&B rate. Breakfast was OK usual continental style but also Sausage, Bacon (Back), scrambled egg, tomatoes and mushrooms. Really nice but comes at 10 euros if you cant get a B@B rate.
If you want to Self Cater there is Pingo Doce (Tesco equivalent) supermarket 10 Minutes walk away which has everything you could need and is very cheap in comparison to UK
There was a lovely big pool with a smaller childrens pool and plenty of sunbeds although if you wanted an umbrella you would have to be around before 10
The Hotel was exceptionally clean and the staff were excellent and very friendly.
Free Internet available in the bar which was handy for e-mailing home.
Very quiet in the evening as the hotel is away from the main roads.
The hotel is about a 15-20 minute walk into Lagos town through the marina. Very pleasant stroll, although a taxi will cost you around 4 Euros if you dont feel up to it.
We had a great time at the Marina Club and would recommend this to anyone wanting a peaceful location but within easy reach of the town.

We stayed in a two bedroom apartment for two weeks in the newest block, the Dom Joao. The apartments are lovely, clean and spacious, with modern furniture, TV and AC. The small kitchen area is quite well equipped with a large fridge, kettle, toaster, combination microwave and two ring hob (no oven).
The main downside for us was the traffic noise from the back of the apartment block, which is the main road to Meia Praia beach. Although the lounge and balcony had a pool view, both bedrooms were at the rear and had windows facing the road and a construction site across the road. The noise was very noticeable in the bedrooms, even with the windows shut, and also affected the balcony to some extent (even though it faced the other way) as the apartment was on the end of the block. It was such a shame, as everything else about the apartment was just perfect.
We asked if we could be moved after the first night, but all the 2 bed apartments in this block are on the same end of the building, so the problem would be the same. The 3 bed apartments were also affected by traffic noise, as they are on the other end of the building, with a side view of a busy roundabout. One bed apartments in this block (Dom Joao) all face the pool so wouldn't be affected by noise.
The noise was the only problem, everything else was fantastic. We had maid service every day and everywhere was very clean. The pool is large and there were lots of sunbeds, although it was peak season so there weren't many spare in the middle of the day. There are places to eat at the marina, and lots more in town (a pleasant 20 min walk). Meia Praia beach is 15 mins walk, and has loads of space.
I would recommend a hire car if you stay more than a few days. There are lovely beaches all along the coast and it would be a shame not to visit some of them.
There is no entertainment at the hotel/apartments, which was a good thing! Our two teenagers were quite happy with the facilities, but larger groups with older children might find it a bit quiet.
We would return again, but only to the one bed apartments, to avoid the traffic noise.

We stayed in a 1st floor, one bedroomed apartment for two weeks in the original block, Marina Club 1. The aparment was modern & spotlessly clean, as this is an aparthotel it was serviced daily by maids. Fresh towels every day and bedlinen alternate days. They were always mopping the floors and wiping over the kitchen surfaces.
Our bedroom was two single beds pushed together to make a large double, big wardrobe with a shelved section at one end which had the safe (2 Euros per day) in it. The other room which served as a kitchendiner/lounge/kids bedroom was huge. Probably 25ft by 18ft with a stainless steel galley kitchen along one wall. Glass table and 4 chairs, two big single sofa beds against opposite walls.
Unlike many 1 bed aparts, this one was suitable for 4 adults, rather than just 2 adults & 2 kids. Our 2 youngish teens were very happy with the arrangements, feeling they had the 'best room'.
A huge balcony ran along the front which you could access from both rooms. It had a small table & chairs plus a discreetly hidden airer to dry beach towels & swimwear on. We had the sun early evening. If you wished for sun during the day you would need to be the other side of the pool. Our apartment was over the bar (no problem)It shut at approx 11pm and although nice with free internet access on the one computer, was never busy as most people were out of an evening enjoying the multitude of superb bars and restaurants in Lagos.
The location on the Inner Marina is good, 15 to 20 mins walk to the town across the bridge. Though we often drove in as one of us was experiencing walking problems. It was a nightmare getting a parking space in Lagos early evening. We often ate in Triangulo (Steak on a hot stone, chateaubriand Yum!) and O'Pirates by the roundabout as it was easy to park up there and both resturants were superb. T
Feel obliged to point out that there is a lot of building work going on in the Marina area some of which are more Marina Club apartment blocks.
We picked up a hire car at Faro & it took 60 mins to drive to the Marina club. There's a free car park opposite the main entrance.
The only staff we dealt with were reception & maids they were all efficient.
Self catering facilities were good and modern. Microwave, toaster, kettle, large fridge/freezer, cooker(never used it!)Huge amount of crocks and glassware, you could have had a proper SC holiday if you so wished. Great supermarket Pingo Doce 5 mins walk away, to get your large bottles of water, juice & wine from. Wine prices will make you cry they are so cheap! Mateus Rose 2 quid etc.
Local fresh produce (pork, fish etc) seemed half the price of home, although we ate out all 14 nights, we did buy Kelloggs, Magnums etc for the kids which were a similar price to here as you would expect.
We ate breakfast everyday at Cais Cafe (2 mins away)
Beautiful setting sitting in the sunshine by the Marina looking at the yatchs. Large fresh orange juice, fresh coffee, croissant, french bread, butter & preserves 4.5 Euros.
Ther is no organised entertainment, but a lovely large (but cold) swimming pool. The first week no problems getting 4 sunbeds most times of the day. The second week this became it bit more tricky & you had to be down by about 9.30am. Top quality pool towels available free from the health club reception.
The pool terrace is small, with pretty but minimal gardens. This complex attracts lots of Irish families (very pleasant)with young (0-12)kids & apart from the pool there is absolutely nothing for them to do. I felt a bit sorry for them as their parents wanted to sunbathe and read & there is nowhere for them to play, they tried to play football on a grassy bit but there wasn't the space and they got told off. IMHO I feel the Marina club is more suited to adults and older families that might use it as a base, perhaps spend a few hours by the pool and then go out & about to beaches & siteseeing.
Conclusion
Yes these apartments are a bit more expensive than most but they are worth it.
