Accommodation was clean, spacious, nice looking. Beds were concrete hard & I like a firm mattress, spent the holiday sleeping on the sofa!
Hotel is impressive at first until you look closely, its now a fading beauty queen, the cracks are beginning to show, but there's no incentive for much needed surgery to restore it.
The hotel is 750 m from a very good beach, 2.3 km from Prai da Rocha, 3 km from Portimau & 3 km from Alvor.
The bus stops are 300m from the hotel. Ask as there is no tourist information in the rooms, & the hotel would rather get you a taxi, than tell you how to get around cheaply.
There is a nice Portugese restaurant 1.2km from the hotel calle Servis da Vau close to the first roundabout as you approach Praia da Rocha, highly recommended.
I would recommend this hotel as a good base to investigate this part of Portugal, "IF" you have transport?

We stayed here after changing our accommodation two weeks before departure from the Plaza Real which had major building works and therefore having very little choice.
The hotel is very impressive and the Reception staff were friendly and helpful. We found the apartment to be very clean with a well-equipped kitchen - four-ring hob, microwave, toaster, electric kettle, coffee machine and large fridge. The maids came in daily and were friendly and efficient.
We were self-catering so only ate at the Pool Bar which was OK although considerably more expensive than outside. The supermarket was fairly well stocked but again was extremely expensive so we only used it to buy water and milk.
Having seen the standard of "entertainment" in the bar on two or three occasions, we made efforts to avoid it. It was pretty dire and the bar was not the most inviting place with the large screen TV playing even when the entertainment was taking place. Trying to get the barman's attention away from the girl he was chatting up also proved challenging.
My major complaint about this hotel is its location. There is nothing in Praia do Vau except a beautiful beach and 4 restaurants all with nondescript menus. As a result, we had to travel to Praia da Rocha or Alvor for a decent meal. Although this is only 5 euros each way, it soon mounts up over a fortnight especially if you also go out during the day. The bus stop for Alvor is a fairly long trek and although we walked as much as we could and got local buses, it still put approximately

Lovely apartments. Immaculately clean with lovely cleaning staff, who paid great attention to detail. Reception staff extremely helpful. Entertainment at night was a bit hit and miss, but everyone seemed to enjoy it. On site restaurant was excellent, and bar and restaurant staff were extremely pleasant and helpful. Daytime entertainment staff really got people moving at the pool and the kids all seemed to love it.
Onsite facilities were also excellent
Only downside was the location to a certain extent, as we had to take taxis into both alvor and, praia da rocha, but were only about 4 euros each way.
