They tried their best but music out of tune and someone strumming on a guitar isnt exactly what we had in mind. Anyway to cut it short we wont be stopping in Vila Rosa again until some very immediate changes are done to the entertainment section, or prices drop to reflect the changes.

The staff, Suzanne, Carlos and Eduardo are fantastic, friendly and always happy. We could not fault them at all.
The food that was sold at the bar was basic burgers, chips, lasagne, etc but nice and always freshly cooked. The on site restaurant was very nice, all you can eat for 19euros or you could choose from the menu, not too expensive with the manager paying you full attention.
The holiday season didn't really start until the 1st June and as we were leaving on the 2nd it did start to get busy.
The holiday reps who ran the kids club could have had more get up and go, and even though the kids clubs are included in the holiday price they do charge extra for certain entertainment such as slumber parties, but a great idea for parents to enjoy a quiet {on site} meal.
All in all we had a great time even though they had taken up the strip and relaid it with no thought to public saftey.
The beach is beautiful. We will go back to Portugal but we would like to try another area as we always do.

Vila Rosa is just a short walk from the main 'strip' where food drink, nightlife and more was.
The staff were always polite, the evening entertainment was a bit hit and miss as we had our stay at the latter end of the season, I was told that May and June were a good time to come to the Algarve as the nights are longer the sun is hotter and the prices are still out of season.
The Trips organised by the rep were 1st class,I would reccomend the Zoomarine ( great dolphin shows)the Slide and splash super fun for all,the Jeep Safari in the mountains was quite outstanding, if you go you must try the Portuguese evening !
All in all top class.

Excellent food. Catered for everyone.
Swimming pools were clean and well maintained. This hotel is very close to the brill beach and close to the town of Portimao. 10 minutes walking distance away. Ideal for first time away.
Would go there next year. A week is not enough time to explore this wonderful place. Would recomend going to zoomarina and jeep safari.

We had a T1 apartment very clean and loads of room it had a lift in our block wich was usefull as we was on 3rd floor.
Food was excellent from the bar area. Night entertainment did lack a little but as it was a holiday for our children they enjoyed the evenings with the reps who also was nice (well done thomas cook/jmc).
As others heard the dogs we didn't here any of that. Only through day those noisey moth type things but at night they shut off.
It was my first time there and we loved the people and place so much we have booked again for the 5th of May for 2 weeks this time so we can really enjoy it.

Praia Da Rocha is a stunning area and I would love to go back soon. The Vilarosa appeals to all Football Fans as there is football played all day in the main bar area. 2 large TV's and one massive screen, my partner was in his element.
The beach is huge and stunning and plenty of sunbeds. Great food up in Praia da Rocha strip. About 10 min walk at the most.
If you love good food, I suggest the Sitting Bull up on the Strip, the food is out of this world. Plus the Chinese above one of the pubs is great to.
The only down side is that Portugal is not cheap and everything costs around the same as it does in the UK, apart from fags. Other than that it was a top holiday and I would advise others to go.

The pools are excellent, clean.
Staff are very friendly & helpful.
The bar food was reasonably priced, always delicious & always served promptly. If you want a "decent" sized coffee ask for a cappuccino by the pool, they much bigger than the non-takeout coffees!
The distance from town is fine, it's a nice walk, especially when you've just stuffed yourself full, although it's a bit steep on the way back, when pushing a pushchair!!
All that said our 2 weeks were PLAGUED by barking dogs. We were in block 23, facing the garden the dogs are in and every time anything (person, car, leaf!!) passed they would bark and bark and bark. These are two German shepherds so it's not a little bark either. They barked all through the night, we couldn't nap on the room because you could never get to sleep and we had to keep the doors shut in the evening because of the noise.
Another problem we had was with the apartment which was the worst equipped we have ever encountered. Just a hob to cook on, no microwave or oven. The cutlery consisted of knives, forks, spoons, one wooden spoon and a sharp knife. We had to buy a corkscrew and bottle opener. And essentially had to eat out all the time except breakfast. The balcony was a foot wide so having a table and 4 chairs on it was just having a laugh. Having said that we had a look at the timeshare apartments and they were fantastic, fully fitted kitchen, large balconies, some even had gardens.
If we came back to Rocha we would stay at Vila Rosa, but in the timeshare, which (strangely) is far away from the dogs!
