nice property, but let down by weak reception staff

These are decent-sized apartments with most of what you would need (except for washing machines for longer stays). There is a nice swimming pool. About the area: it's better to have a car.

But the main problem is that the reception is poorly maintained. Nobody is there most of the time. The staff work little, so communication is poor. They made several mistakes with my booking. The burden is on the guest to resolve any mistakes that are made. Imagine all the lost bookings!

Also, if you stay here you will be aware of a smell within a couple of days. I believe this issue is known as "dry trap". Or it may be that the building lacks modern plumbing entirely.

The place has lots of apartments but most of them are empty. That's a bit sad. I would have liked to have stayed longer. The place has a lot of potential, and it could achieve it with better staff and building maintenance.

It's my second time at the Gida and its changed quite a lot, (for the worse).

It was under new management and they have ruined it, broken boilers, no lights, etc, etc, etc, we did manage to talk to previous owners and they told us they are taking the lease back and returning the Gida back to its former glory.

Gilda apts has recently under gone new management as informed by hotel beds, the booking agent in and around the world for agents in the UK.

These apts are a disgrace to Portugal. The management could not accommodate our needs. All we wanted was hot water, dry beds and electric. The apts only have a trickle of cold water, are damp and freezing cold. Even the staff laughed when i explained I was in the maintenance mans old apt. He had apparently gone without a trace.

My children and I were sleeping in cold wet beds. Our party had 3 apts and each one was the same. I only saw 2 other family's there and again the same problems. The manager would not help or understand, baring in mind I myself had moved apts due to no electric. I can not express enough our distress. Hence we hired cars and found 3 star accommodation elsewhere.

The Gilda is not 3 star as we were informed by this hotels manager. We are a family of 6 adults 4 children 1 baby. My oldest sons wife is 20 weeks pregnant. Of course we had to move. I have photos of electric wires from plugs the water heaters hanging of walls damp and mould patches mould on mattresses. The list goes on this is a true and honest report of the Gilda apts.

I have travelled all around Europe and beyond and have never come across any thing like this.

I found the hotel needed to be updated as the enamel was coming off the baths. Although the brochure said entertainment there was none. The nicest member of staff was Pedro. We made the best of this holiday but there was nothing there for the children apart from the pool.

The Gida was a small quiet complex with well kept gardens, swimming pool area and free sunbeds! The bar and restaurant has character and meals and snacks were excellent value for money. There is a real Portugese feel to the Gida. Quarteira is the nearest beach, but it is a fair walk! We felt we needed to hire a car as the apartments were a little out of the way, but this can be done through reception at a very cheap rate! A taxi ride into Vilamoura was about

The Gida apts were a fantastic base for our first visit to the Algarve.

The apts were clean, had air con, tvs, spacious accom. the staff wre very friendly and very helpful. The prices at the Gida were not a rip off like most places infact we found them on a par with local bars.

The pool was spotless, the only fault was its location, about 20 mins stroll to town and 30 mins to nearest beach.

We will be returning there ASAP.
