Location of hotel was ideal towards the end of the promenade and about 30 minutes stroll into Funchal town in a quiet area. Hotel is on the cliff overlooking the sea so no other hotels or buildings to block the view. A quiet, well appointed hotel very suited to the mature visitor although they were by no means the majority. Breakfast selection and quality of food was very good with breakfast taken on the decked terrace overlooking the sea. We only ate dinner in one night so unable to give review of dinner food overall. Plenty of good quality restaurants within walking distance for evening meals. Friendly, helpful staff and our room, albeit only a classic room was very spacious and well furnished with a good bathroom and lovely private balcony overlooking the sea - all rooms have a sea view. There are 2 pools, the inside one being part of the gym/sauna facility with loungers. The outside pool quite small and only one depth - 1.65 mts so no good for non swimmers or children. The inside pool was likewise. Plenty of loungers and parasols and pool towels provided. Small poolside restaurant for drinks and light meals. Security access from the rear of the hotel to the promenade. Highly recommended hotel if you are looking for a relaxing holiday with peace and quiet. A good quality 4* hotel which we would certainly visit again.
