We booked to stay at another hotel within the same chain but were told on check in we were to stay at the Murrayfield as there had been a flood.
We arrived at the Murrayfield hotel which looks ok on the outside but thought maybe it looked like a hotel for stag / hen partys not for a couple.
When we went inside I was gobsmacked. The reception area is awful, dirty and wallpaper pealing off in places and in desperate need of a major make over.
The girl on reception was a little off hand and told us a man would take us to our room. The man in question told us to follow so we did.... Out of the hotel onto the main street and i mean main street.
Down the road passing another hotel and another couple of bb s before we came to the Murryfield lodge.
First immpressions were much better than the hotel ( from the outside ) We were shown to our room by the man who didnt understand much english / scotish. We were in room 303 which is at the back on the ground floor.
The room appeared clean and was very spacious however on closer inspection the cleaners are not very conciencious and only clean what you can see.
The shower was very poor, the window didn't open and the bath had a hole in which had been filled with some kind of filler, not to mention the graffitti on the wall which I can only presume was by the previous guests.
All in all we dumped our bags and went into Edinburgh. We were only there for one night or I would have tried to find another hotel.
We booked for B & B but skipped the brekki as by the state of the reception area I would dread to think what the kitchen would be like.
We checkout at 09.15 as soon as we woke and had a shower. I would think this hotel would be ok for stag / hen parties if you could guarantee a room in the lodge but the hotel in my oppinion should carry a health warning !
I'm only saying the lodge would be ok for hen partys as the girls who came in at 05.30 on the sunday morning were obviously having a good time !
