I was due to travel via Edinburgh on a very early train so decided to stay over in Edinburgh the night before, even though I live nearby in Falkirk.
I booked through lastminute.com, a special low priced deal which meant that I didn't know the name of the hotel before I booked and paid for it. A bit of a risk, but as it turned out, well worth it.
I arrived at the hotel reception and was quickly and efficiently dealt with by a receptionist who actually took me to my room, via the swimming pool/gym area (because I wanted a look round first). I booked a massage for 7pm and then was taken to my room. It consisted of a huge bedroom with living room off, both with large flat-screen tv's. A lovely big bathroom completed the suite. The view out of the window was of an internal courtyard and nothing to write home about, but frankly who cares - the room was fabulous. I got ready for a session in the spa and when I entered was given a big towel/robe/slippers pack so I could go off to my massage straight after my swim. There was a self-service bar with chilled orange juice, water, and tea or coffee facilities, plus newspapers and magazines and loungers. After my relaxing swim and coffee relaxing on a lounger, I was taken for my massage, 45 mins of heaven followed by half an hour in another room - a relaxation room with more complimentary drinks, fruits and comfy seating. Then back to my room and out for the evening. Came back and ordered a room service tea/coffee tray. It came quickly and included home made shortbread wrapped and beribboned. I lovely touch. Bedtime - went off to sleep on a very comfortable bed. Up at dawn and caught train in plenty of time. I cannot wait for another excuse to come back again, and cannot recommend it enough. Excellent hotel, excellent location, excellent staff, expensive but worth every penny.
I cannot comment on entertainment or restaurant but assume it would also be excellent!
