We stayed at Traders for one night on the way out to Bali and 2 on the way back. We stayed in a Club room and have to say its the smallest Club room we've stayed in. However, everything was there. Very comfortable kingsize bed, safe, minibar(very expensive), TV with BBC news, tv/coffee making facilities, and a desk well equiped for business needs. The bathroom was small as well- but nice. Liked the whicker basket, which acted as a vacuum pack for the enclosed chinese teacups and teapot with jasmine tea, we found in our room after returning in the evening.
The Club lounge was nice with free drinks for 2 hours in the evening and nibbles. We had breakfast there the first day- good. But the other two days we went to Cafe Biz( included our price). We had done this on our first visit a few years ago and also at the Shangri La in KL last year and knew it was the best choice we have every had. You can get anything you can think of breakfast- for any nationality. Mind you, not sure about ENGLISH porridge:)
We had dinner at Ah Hoi's Kitchen on our first night. This is an award winning restaurant and one we had been at before. Even if we go to another hotel in the future I would definitely be tempted to return to the restaurant. It is local cuisine with a couple of twists.
Rumpoles Bar had undergone a transformation from our last visit and I thought was a lot nicer.
We used the pool area on our last afternoon and this is brilliant for a city hotel. Large area, always seats available, even with loads of people there. Drinks by the pool though are extortianate.
I would not say I will never return to Traders but the position and the small rooms( for Singapore) are a bit off putting for me. I prefer Clarke Quay as its on the MRT route for sightseeng during the day and has the nightlife around it.
Traders does have a shuttle which takes you to the MRT in Orchard Road( which is also the main shopping area). The shuttles run once an hour.
There was free internet access which included printing out etickets.
A little more information on the hotel and Singapore itself can be found in the Far East forum on HT-

This is a superb hotel located in a quiet location but close to Orchard Road. Rooms are either smoking or non smoking - your choice.
The hotel is adjacent to Tanglin Mall where an excellent and cheap international food court can be found. Tanglin Mall is an excellent shopping area.
The hotel runs a free bus into the Orchard Road underground and to the main shopping area, this service is also first class. The hotel restaurant is of a very high standard and the food, although quite expensive, is very good.
We have visited Singapore sevearal times and each time we find something new.
A two week stay at Traders Hotel was not long enough, next time we will stay longer.

We only had one day at the hotel, on a stopover on our way back from Bali so just a brief impression!
The hotel is located just 5 minutes from Orchard Road. Good reception area- very efficient. There is a lounge area there and a restaurant also on the groundfloor. We found the standard room to be a little on the small size.
Ok for one night but I would have been falling over things if we were there much longer. It had a safe, minibar, tea/coffee making facilities, satellite tv and a small but nice bathroom.
We had dinner at Ah Hoi's Kitchen in the hotel. This is an award winning restaurant and deservedly so. Local cuisine, beautifully cooked and presented( chopsticks were a must!), and very attentive staff.
I would certainly eat there again. It is on the same floor as the swimming pool which looked nice but we obviously didn't have time to use it!
Breakfast was at Cafe Biz on the ground floor which is also getting a good reputation for evenings. It really did have everything!!! Everything you could think of and some things you had never seen before. First class!
If I stayed again I would splash out on a better room. The only reason I wouldn't stay again is that I much prefer the area around Clarke Quay.
