After reading some reviews we were worried about what we were going to be staying in, but when we arrived it was beautiful.

The apartments were clean and tidy and the resort had everything you could need.

Yes there is a hill to the apartments but it is worth the short walk up the hill to the apartments as the views are beautiful when seating round the pool or the restaurant at night...

If I go to Ibiza in the future I will be returning to the Montemar in Cala Llonga.

Just back today from Montemar Calla Llonga.

Already looking into going back to Ibiza next year. The Montemar restaraunt serves good food at a reasonable price, although the snack bar food isnt up to the same standard.

The pool area is the focal point of the apartments and cannot be faulted, it is lovely. We were in an apartment just above the pool area, with huge balcony, the apartment was basic but had all you need.

The hill and steps to some of the other apartments was huge (no good for prams or anyone with any kind of walking difficulties) the entertainment was ok for kids and some of the acts were very good others very bad.

All in all a very enjoyable holiday and I would go back(armed with ant killer). Also launderette facilities consisted of 1 washer and 1 dryer that I only used once as a lot of our clothes were damaged in the machine, but there is a very good launderette service in the town.

We enjoyed our stay and would certainly consider going back again to the Montemar.

Apartments were clean and tidy, we had a brilliant Apartment at the top of the complex. Massive terrace with views all around, including a sea view, very quiet at night. Only downside to this was the steps to get to our apartment, but we were expecting some steps as it said so in the brochure, so this was not a problem for us. Yes there were some ants but spray easily dealt with them, not a problem.

Montemar is a short walk from main Cala Llonga area, slight uphill walk but not a problem. Supermarket two minutes walk from complex. Apartments in beautiful pine covered hill, very peaceful. Good pool, plenty of sunbeds for everyone.

Staff were very good and helpful.

Entertainment was good. The two girls, Laura and Rania, that ran the entertainment and activities for the children were excellent. We really enjoyed our stay. The kids were sorry to go, they really miss the "Globy" Disco and the "Cetificados". Would go back again tomorrow. Thanks girls you really made our holiday.

After a two week holiday in Montemar I am glad to say that I am glad to be home.

On arrival my first impression was good. We had a good flight over with Aviajet and arrived a the apartments.

We arrived at the Montemar apartments on Sunday, as soon as we got there we went to the reception desk to recieve our key, but our apartment wasn't ready, we were told to wait half an hour.

So as we waited we were met by two English people who told us to be watchful at night as break ins happen regulary and also not to eat from the bar as there was a bug going round.

We got into our room and all was good. That night I was woken by lots of ants in my bed, this I had to complain about.

Next morning I saw the rep and she told me I would be sorted out with spray, I also mentioned to her about the break ins but she just said that can happen anywere and to close your door and windows at night.

I still wasn't happy about the ants so I asked could we be moved and the rep let us look at one of the apartments on M block, this was even worse, the apartment was way up on a hill, dirty inside and the fans were hanging off the ceiling. She then said we could get moved to a different hotel in the middle of the week.

Next day the rep arrived at our apartment with the spray and showed us the hotel we could move to, it wasn't good at all, there was no air conditioning or ceiling fans, we decided to stay where we were.

Everything was good for a couple of nights until Friday night. We were woken up at 5 o clock in the morning by a man shouting and swearing and a clatter of furniture. I went outside and seen the caretaker who said everything was alright it was only a party. The man above me in the apartment arrived down saying that he had been broken into, he had seen the thief crawl in to his apartment through the door, he tried to chase after him but caught his toe on the balcony door.

Next morning the woman below me asked if I had a break in and said that she had because her video camera was gone. This was all very distrubing so next night I stayed up all night in the balcony, I wasn't the only one doing this as others had said.

Thankfully there was no more break ins for the rest of my stay.

Also the apartments were grubby. Bed linen was only changed once in two weeks and towels were given every three days, not enough as there was five of us in the apartment.

The entertainment at night was silly, two girls who couldnt do nothing in time and everything was disorginised. Kareoke was on nearly everynight which was boring as only one person ever sang. The rest of the night you listened to music.

Entertainment was only good at night when someone was brung in from outside the hotel, this only occured three times while I stayed.

The rest of my stay was good as I visted a lot around Ibiza. We will definantly not be going back to Montemar apartments.

Just back today. Swimming pool was great plenty of sunbeds and umbrellas.

Rooms were basic ,cleaners were terrible,had to request towels and sheets otherwise I ,think we would have had to make do with one set a week.

Food at poolbar was good,bar staff have not got a clue how to serve. Watch your change,entertainment was bad but kids enjoyed it. Entertainers could show some interest in kids and not the onsite dog.

Location was good, recommend bringing ant killer ,you cannot blame hotel for this its the heat, and yes there was a few break ins and three Morrocans were arrested.

Why people dont avail of safe deposit boxes is beyond me,or keep windows open at night. Read your brochures there are steps to all apartments,fans are only in bedroom not in kitchen,bring a spare one.

We arranged this holiday ourselves. I bid for the flights on an auction site then booked the accommodation on a hotels site on the internet.

We paid just over 100 pounds each so we were not expecting 5* luxury. However we were pleasantly surprised when we checked in. The one bed apartment was a nice side and was very clean.

Lots of utensils for eating and drinking but we only had breakfast in the room. The pool area was clean but as it was mid May and the pool is large it was very cold.

We had a car for the week so getting around was no problem.

A nice place which we would certainly return to.

We enjoyed our stay here. The hill and steps were steep, but we hired a car for most of our stay, so not a problem!

We didn't have a problem with ants I'm pleased to say and we thoroughly enjoyed the pool area and there were ample sunbeds.

Entertainment was virtually non-existent for our first week. Balcony was huge which was great.

We didn't use the ceiling fan as we were worried we would be decapitated, but that aside we managed without as our stay was in May.

We have booked to go back this year with more family members.... Need I say more?

I've just come back from the Montemar in August after a weeks stay. Having read some of the reviews i was geared up for the steps!! We were put in block H which was perfectly located, not too high up but far enough from the noise. The apartment itself was big enough for 5 and it had a huge balcony that overlooked the pine woods.That unfortunately is all the good points of it. As soon as we walked in we could smell sewage which only faded after we bought some acid stuff to get rid of it and even then it didn't go. Our bathroom was constantly flooded by the water pouring in from the cealing above. we had to construct some kind of roof over the toilet with a lylo so we could use the loo without being soaked and slipping on the floor.Water continued to come in through the cealing and onto the cooker rings in the kitchen which subsequently blew the electrics the one time we tried to use them.One morning we got up and the kitchen cealing had fallen down and to top it all they decided to just come in and take the bed in the lounge that my son was staying in without a word, just dumping the sheets and stuff on the floor. Saying all this, we did get clean towels, the beds were made at least once, the entertainment for a six year old was great, it made a nice change to have a decent size pool and the weather was fantastic. Given all this, would I go back again? Yes i would providing we weren't too far up those steps.

This holiday was booked in September 2003 and is the first (and it will be the last) time I've used Direct Holidays!

Firstly 8 weeks prior to departure we were told that our flight would be at 5am and not 1.50pm as we were expecting (apparently they had written to us - but we never got the letter)

We arrived at the Montemar at 9.45am expecting to check in to our room (as we had been told we could by Direct Holidays in the UK) but were told that our room would not be ready until 2pm. When we went back at 2pm the room still wasn't ready! 15 minutes later we had a key for H01 but when we got to the door the maids were still cleaning it and it would be another 30 minutes, returned to the reception and were given the keys to M01! After the trek to find it, we found a gloomy room with unsafe ceiling fans and a view of of a smashed up car! Back to reception and complained and were given the keys to H01 again - this time it was ready - but when we went in we were greeted with mould on the ceiling and walls of the kitchen, a mouldy and flaking bathroom ceiling, no bath only a shower, a wire hanging out of a light on the terrace and a front door that wouldn't shut without being locked. So back to reception again and were given the keys to E05.

This room was better, but only just - the kitchen and bathroom were tatty, the bottom of the fridge was hanging off as it was rusting away (God knows how long it must have been leaking for) and the apartment was generally grubby. We put up with this room for the night (it was now about 4pm and we'd been on the go since 1am!).

Next morning spoke to the rep who said we could either move rooms (as we'd had 3 we were fed up with moving) or move accomdation (she said she couldn't say where we would end up - and as we like Cala Longa (we were there in 1997) we decided to make the best of it and stay put) and by the afternoon we had a brand new fridge.

On the plus side the apartment was huge (we had a 2 bedroom) - with a massive terrace, the pool is big and the area around it is clean.

We got fresh towels every 3 days and a change of bedding once in 2 weeks, although the rooms never seemed to be cleaned (apart from when I did it!).

We didn't use the entertainment, but because we overlooked the stage we couldn't escape it! It was a bit hit and miss with a lot of kareoke and bingo! Although I did catch the end of a Platters tribute group who sounded excellent.

A word of warning if you want a safe it'll cost you e21 a week!

Cala Llonga is great with a really nice beach, there's just enough to keep you amused on an evening with plenty of places to eat and a wide variety of bars. We ate at Mister Cairos, which was excellent value for money and the food was lovely, it also has a showbar/disco which had a few acts on although we didn't stay until 4am when it closed!

We hired a car for 4 days so managed to get around the island a fair bit, I booked it through www amigosautos co uk and the car was supplied by Hiper Car Rental (who have a desk at the Montemar) we had a brand new VW Polo TDI with A/C and it only cost e120.

So all in all not a bad holiday, although I wouldn't rate the Montemar as a 3 star, Ibiza is lovely and I would go back but not to these apartments or with Direct Holidays!

PS the walk up the hill isn't that bad!
