On arrival I initially thought the hotel could do with a lick of paint but it became apparent that the real problem was cleanliness. The sheets were never changed, the beds were made but the bathroom, floor and balcony were never cleaned. The towels were removed every morning at 9am and not returned until we had asked reception 3 or 4 times over the space of a few hours. There were cracked tiles, leaky plumbing and obvious stains everywhere. The itchy blankets smelt of cheese. Not that we needed them - the air conditioning is very old and breaks down around 3-4 times a week. Food OK but not what you'd expect at a 3 star. They even employ a chef to stand and wave the flies away ! All 4 salads on the lunch menu were tuna and tomato. The bar and dining staff tried to overcharge for drinks regularly. The pool staff were a bit over friendly (read lecherous) but did their job well drumming up interest for waterpolo and aquaaerobics and were great with kids. It's the only hotel I have ever stayed in which gave out free anti diarrhoea medecines at reception. The doctor was at the hotel every day but medical care is excellent. I needed 7 injections for sickness and diarrhoea.
Location wise, it's a bit of trek to the Marina but taxis are cheap, do not pay more than 2 dinar ! Hotel entertainment: the Tunisian night is great but the bingo and karaoke are dire.

I went as a single parent to Tunisia and was wary of being pestered. In fact we were both so well looked after and had such a wonderful holiday. The pool staff were excellent and loved the children. The food was varied and the service good although I did feel pressured to tip the chambermaids excessively!! I would go back to the Miramar, a great relaxing holiday.

I visited Miramar Golf in August 2003 with a friend. We found the hotel expectionally friendly and very clean. Our rooms which were in the annexe were airconditioned and we couldn't fault it. The food was pretty much the same every night but again it was enjoyable. The pool had a waiter( Majdi) who i must say was the best waiter i had ever seen, he was so friendly and polite and made sure aall residents were seen to. As two single girls visiting tunisia we were a little worried about being hassled and although this happened on a couple of occasions we never felt intimitated as we knew it was all a bit of fun. The medinas are alot of fun as long as you are firm and port el kantoui is beautiful at night with the open air cafe bars. i would love to go back again someday and if i do it will definatley be at Miramar Golf.
If you go mention me to Majdi, he will remember me!

We booked a last minute allocation on arrival to Tunisia and as we had never been to the country before we didnt know what to expect, especially as many reveiews on the internet were bad! We had nothing to worry! Tunisia is great. In the holiday brochure Miramar golf was deemed not siutable for children (which we believe to be due to the depth of the pool) but although our son was the only child there he was made to feel very welcome. The food was fine and i am vegetarian and was reasonably catered for. Hotel very clean and we were given a large room for the 3 of us which was great. Staff were lovely (as were everyone in Tunisia) and i cried on our last night - they were so nice!Entertainment wasnt up to much at night but there were better hotels within walking disatnce. In the day though there were lots of activities. All i can say is dont go if you are expecting English (or even Spanish) style holiday as you wont get it! Some people expect it be like home with the food, culture etc.We went back to Tunisia again this year, this time to Skanes and again, we ahd a great holiday.

the hotel is quite a way from the main roads, which was a bit of a bind if we needed to visit local shops for water etc.the food is plentiful but boring, with hardly any variety.the rooms in the annexe are far superior to those in the main building, much larger with nicer furnishings and power points.the pool is big with loungers and mattresses but there is a charge even for residents which doesnt carry through even if you just go in for lunch so you have to pay again or do lunch in shifts.there is entertainment most nights but a bit naff, karioke, bingo and the like.the staff are lovely, very helpful and friendly.theres an indoor pool also which is very deep and freezing, the drinks are very expensive.

Rooms very basic with woolly blankets in 30 degree heat. Bathroom smelt of suirage continually and no ventilation in bathroom. Food Ok if you like eating the same thing every night. Indoor pool water was very cloudy. Gym equipment a joke. The man selling watches started haggling and we told him we didnt want to but he doubled the price once we had agreed. We couldnt wait to go home. Entertainment great if you like a single page of bingo!, Karaoke - I would compare it to being stuck in a cruise that is impossible to ever get off. Highlight of our holiday was a 60 year old man who kept the entertainment going and was about the only person up after 11p.m. with us!
